#10 IV Fluid Shortage: Hospital Group Asks Federal Government To Declare National Emergency - Tyler Durden ZeroHedge, Amy Klobuchar, and Shawn Hendrix on X
Baxter International, the largest manufacturer of certain intravenous (IV) solutions in the United States, shut down its North Cove manufacturing plant in North Carolina recently after being impacted by Hurricane Helene. This has disrupted the supply of IV fluids to hospitals.  “As a result, our members are already reporting substantial shortages of these lifesaving and life-supporting products,” the AHA said in an Oct. 7  to President Joe Biden. The group represents almost 5,000 member hospitals, 43,000 individual members, and other healthcare organizations.“Patients across America are already feeling this impact, which will only deepen in the coming days and weeks unless much more is done to alleviate the situation and minimize the impact on patient care,” the letter reads...

Despite heavy criticism of the disaster response after Helene, election integrity leaders in the state appear pleased with the board’s efforts. As part of its response to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene, the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) made more emergency changes to how elections will be administered in the 13 hardest-hit counties in the western part of the state. The NCSBE passed a resolution in a meeting Monday expanding the capabilities of voters affected by the storm to cast their ballot in this year’s election, as well as the ability for county boards of elections to process ballots...

The North Carolina National Guard said a Black Hawk helicopter crew was grounded after an incident in which they flew low over a Hurricane Helene donation and supply area, blowing over three tents and scattering items in the air. Video of the incident surfaced after the copter hovered over the supply area in Burnsville on Sunday. One person who recorded the video said that the incident “seemed deliberate.” Guard officials said Tuesday that the aircraft was a North Carolina National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter making a delivery of generators...

A Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing at JFK International Airport in New York after the pilot fainted mid-flight, the airline said Wednesday. The plane had taken off from Seattle on Tuesday and was intended to land in Istanbul, according to Turkish Airlines spokesman Yahya Üstün. However, the pilot collapsed during the flight, and he died after attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. The FBI arrested a man from Afghanistan who was allegedly planning an Election Day terrorist attack in the U.S. Federal prosecutors charged Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi with planning the attack in support of ISIS. He was arrested Monday in Oklahoma City. According to court records, he made his initial appearance in federal court Tuesday but did not enter a plea. He remains in custody. According to a federal criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday, Tawhedi and unnamed co-conspirators — including a juvenile who is Tawhedi's brother-in-law — were followers of ISIS and took steps to carry out their attack in the U.S., including by trying to sell their family home, relocate their families abroad and purchase firearms and ammunition...
