#1 Trump Lawsuit Against Murdoch and ‘Wall Street Journal’ Turns Personal - David Folkenflik for NPR, Common Sense/Green Fields, Anti-Opression, Juanita Broaddrick/Nick Sortor, and CMTSU on X

President Trump's defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and its powerful owner has taken a personal turn. In the legal filings — and on social media — Trump says he personally told media mogul Rupert Murdoch that the racy birthday greeting he had supposedly sent two decades earlier to the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein had been faked and did not exist. Murdoch's Journal reported it anyway, despite Trump's warning. Now, Trump is asking a federal judge in Miami to compel the man he once called "my very good friend Rupert Murdoch" to answer his lawyers' questions under oath within 15 days of the order. Trump's legal team acknowledges that the ink is barely dry on the lawsuit — there is no schedule of court deadlines yet — but argues that Murdoch is unlikely to testify in person whenever a trial occurs due to his advanced age and health issues...

Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted sex trafficker and associate of Jeffrey Epstein, has requested that the US Supreme Court overturn her conviction, saying she was unjustly prosecuted. In 2022, Maxwell was sentenced in Manhattan to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking and other related crimes. Her legal team, however, submitted a request to the Supreme Court on Monday, seeking to overturn the lower court’s decision, arguing that a prior plea deal that Epstein took protected Maxwell from prosecution...

A candidate for Cincinnati's mayorship slammed city leadership Monday afternoon after a viral downtown beatdown that has reverberated across the nation.  "People don't even see the sense in calling 911 anymore," said Cory Bowman, who is also Vice President, JD Vance's half-brother, in addition to being a candidate for city mayor.  Bowman placed second in a nonpartisan primary race in May. He will square off with incumbent Mayor Aftab Pureval in November. His thoughts on citizens seeing no sense in calling 911 came after Police Chief Teresa Theetge said in a press conference that only one person called police while the attack was ongoing...

#5 Republicans Across the Country Are Pushing Bills to Stop Government ‘Weather Modification' - Allan Smith and Matt Dixon for NBC News, Software Developer, Ann VandersteelTM, Micah Brohawn, Laura/Benjamin Fulford News, Carlos A Loya, and Lirpa Fae/MJTruthUltra on X
For years, outlandish theories about the U.S. government’s using airplanes to spray harmful chemicals over U.S. homes or powerful elites controlling the weather were relegated to the fringes of society.

Not anymore. As the internet has provided rocket fuel for such claims, Republican lawmakers across the country are introducing, passing, and enacting laws to ban “weather modification” and environmental geoengineering and allude to the use of “chemtrails,” a longtime theory that planes are spreading chemical agents on an unsuspecting public. As more people are exposed to dangerous flooding, the GOP lawmakers have pointed to the fringe theories as potential explanations for extreme weather, pushing them further into the political mainstream. (Scientists have found evidence tying the increasing frequency of extreme weather to climate change.)

#6 America’s First Transcontinental Freight Railroad Is Planned After a Megamerger - Chris Isidore for CNN, Eugene, FreightWaves, Chris Ogilvie, KETV NewsWatch 7, and NOTRELOAD AI on X

Two of the largest US railroads, Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern, announced on Tuesday a plan to combine in a $72 billion deal that would create America’s first transcontinental freight railroad. The stock and cash deal would be the largest ever in a sector that has already massively consolidated in recent decades. The deal still needs regulatory approval and will serve as a major test for the Trump administration’s antitrust regulators, who have appeared more willing than the Biden administration to approve mergers in certain industries, even if they reduce significant market competitors. US freight railroads are crucial to America’s economy, carrying about 30% of the nation’s freight in terms of weight, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Trains transport autos, retail goods, food, and energy products, as well as raw materials and parts needed to run America’s factories...
