The community of Surprise, Arizona, has become a First Amendment battlefield after its mayor last week had an activist arrested, claiming city rules forbade her to voice a complaint in public. “I have certain inalienable rights, and they were not only trampled on, but the mayor essentially weaponized the police force to shut me up that night,” Rebekah Massie said, according to KPNX. Massie, 32, was charged with suspicion of trespassing, a class 3 misdemeanor, and class 1 misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and obstructing government operations, according to the Arizona Republic...

#9 Donald Trump Faces New Indictment in Jan. 6 Capitol Riot Case After Supreme Court Immunity Ruling - Steven Nelson and Ryan King for The New York Post, President Trump News, Laura Loomer, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on X

Special counsel Jack Smith filed a superseding indictment against former President Donald Trump Tuesday in a bid to bolster one of two criminal cases against the Republican nominee following the Supreme Court’s landmark presidential immunity decision last month. Trump, 78, remains charged with the same four counts unveiled last August in connection with his bid to overturn his 2020 election defeat by Joe Biden, but Smith’s team retooled some of their arguments to comply with the high court’s determination that the 45th president enjoys “absolute” immunity from prosecution for certain official acts. “The superseding indictment, which was presented to a new grand jury that had not previously heard evidence in this case, reflects the Government’s efforts to respect and implement the Supreme Court’s holdings,” Smith explained in a filing notice...

A coalition of Republican-led states is asking the Supreme Court to halt the Biden administration’s effort to cut methane from oil and gas production.  The 23 state attorneys general and Arizona’s GOP-led Legislature are asking the Supreme Court to block the implementation of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rule that requires oil and gas wells to control leaks of planet-warming methane. Their appeal comes after a lower court declined to do so. It marks the latest in a string of efforts from Republican-led states to block pollution and climate rules through the high court...

It is connected to the Pennsylvania Department of State so voters never have to leave the site to request a mail-in ballot," the campaign sent out in a press release...

The Trump campaign on Tuesday pushed back against a narrative within the media that Vice President Harris is taking a more positive approach to border wall construction, calling such a claim "preposterous." "How much longer will the mainstream media allow Kamala Harris to hide and use staff to speak on her behalf?" Karoline Leavitt, national press secretary for the Trump campaign, said in a statement. "It’s DAY 37 of ZERO interviews, and Kamala’s anonymous campaign sources are now claiming she supports President Trump’s border wall — this is a preposterous and false claim."

A federal judge is blocking, in 17 states, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s administration from imposing a new rule that gives collective bargaining rights to foreign farm workers while American farm workers are excluded. In September 2023, the Labor Department announced a federal rule that would dramatically change the H-2A visa program, which allows United States farms to import foreign workers to take American agricultural jobs. As part of the rule, finalized in April 2024, foreign H-2A visa workers would get collective bargaining rights not afforded to American farm workers.
