#10 Trump Tells New York Appeals Court to Toss $454 million Fraud Judgment - Kaelen Deese, Washington Examiner

Former President Donald Trump filed a brief on Monday calling on an appeals court to toss a judgment that forces him to pay roughly $454 million to the state of New York. Trump’s attorneys filed paperwork before New York’s Appellate Division on Monday, calling the judgment against him an “unauthorized, unprecedented power-grab” by state Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat. Trump was accused of altering his net worth on financial statements to secure more favorable loans and insurance benefits, and New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron sided with the Empire State.

#9 US judge will not Block Biden Administration Ban on Worker 'Noncompete' Agreements - Daniel Wiessner and Brendan Pierson, Reuters
July 23 (Reuters) - A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a bid by a tree-trimming company to block a U.S. Federal Trade Commission rule from taking effect that would ban agreements commonly signed by workers not to join their employers' rivals or launch competing businesses.
U.S. District Judge Kelley Hodge in Philadelphia said in a written decision that the FTC, which enforces federal antitrust laws, has the power to ban practices that it deems anticompetitive, including the use of so-called noncompete agreements that curb competition for labor.

Three Army Reserve officers were disciplined for dereliction of duty following a rampage in which a reservist killed 18 people in Maine, according to an Army report that cited communication failures within the chain of command and between military and civilian hospitals, among other shortcomings. The report released Tuesday unearthed “a series of failures by unit leadership,” said Lt. Gen. Jody Daniels, chief of the Army Reserves, and administrative actions taken against the officers could prevent their further military advancement. The officers weren’t identified.

Just one day after the announcement of President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, his Department of Justice reported that it has located a transcript of a Biden interview that it previously said did not exist. The DOJ admitted to a federal judge Monday that there are, in fact, transcripts of Biden’s meetings with his biographer, Mark Zwonitzer, for Biden’s 2007 and 2017 memoirs, according to a report by Politico.

#5 Utah Certifies Primary Despite Claims Its All-Mail Voting System Disenfranchised Hundreds - Shawn Fleetwood, The Federalist

Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson certified the state’s recent primary election results on Monday amid allegations from electors that the state’s all-mail voting system disenfranchised their votes. The Beehive State’s certification of its June 25 primary results did not come without controversy. In the weeks following the contest, it became clear that hundreds of ballots mailed by voters in Utah’s southern counties had not been counted due to what county officials believe was a postmark issue, despite voters’ purported adherence to state law.

Unlike most states, Utah employs an all-mail voting system in which voters on the Beehive State’s registration lists are automatically mailed a ballot ahead of Election Day. State law requires voters’ mail ballots to be “postmarked by the day before Election Day,” according to Ballotpedia.

#4 Black Lives Matter Criticizes DNC for 'Anointing' of Harris, Calls for Primary - Elizabeth Wiebel, Breitbart

Black Lives Matter (BLM) issued a statement calling for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to hold a “virtual snap primary” and criticized the “anointing” of Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s presidential candidate, citing concerns about where she stands on certain issues. In a statement on Tuesday, the group admitted that while President Joe Biden had not been their “preferred candidate,” they could not “ignore the troubling actions of the Democratic Party,” and called for the DNC to hold a primary throughout the United States before the Democratic National Convention took place in August.

#3  Federal Judge Tosses Ohio Voting Restrictions on Voters with Disabilities - Associated Press via The Hill

A federal judge has struck down part of Ohio’s sweeping 2023 election law, which voting rights groups said restricted people from helping voters with disabilities cast absentee ballots. Voting advocates argued that the Republican-backed law went too far by prohibiting anyone but a few qualifying family members from helping people with disabilities deliver their ballots, excluding potential helpers such as professional caregivers, roommates, in-laws and grandchildren. Republicans who backed the law argued that its provisions were designed to protect election integrity and restore voter confidence at a time of great doubt among GOP voters. The ruling comes as former President Donald Trump and his Republican allies continue to spread false claims that there was widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

#2 One GOP Governor Signs Bill Banning Transgender Athletes From Women's Sports - Madeline Leesman, Townhall
Republican Gov. Chris Sununu of New Hampshire signed a bill into law that prohibits so-called “transgender” athletes from competing in sports that align with their gender identity. In addition, he signed a measure protecting children from irreversible, experimental sex reassignment surgeries. According to the Associated Press, the bill passed the Republican-led state legislature. It will require schools to designate sports teams as girls, boys, or coed with eligibility based on birth certificates or “other evidence.”

#1 Kamala Harris Hit with Articles of Impeachment Over Border Crisis, 'Misleading' People on Biden - Elizabeth Elkind, Fox News
A House Republican lawmaker is filing articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday, over both her handling of the border and knowledge, if any, of President Biden's alleged cognitive decline. Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., is accusing Harris of breaching public trust and of willfully refusing to uphold U.S. immigration law in two impeachment articles, obtained by Fox News Digital. The former article on public trust accused Harris of having "knowingly misled the people of the United States and the Congress of the United States, principally to obfuscate the physical and cognitive well-being of the President of the United States, Joe Biden."
