The Republican National Convention wrapped up Thursday night with several notable speakers including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), Alice Marie Johnson, Representative Jeff Van Drew, Ja'Ron Smith, Franklin Graham, Dana White, Ivanka Trump, Ann Dorn, Debbie Flood, Wade Mayfield, and Carl and Marsha Mueller.
Former Republican New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani recalled his time as Mayor and said the current Mayor deBlasio has allowed crime to skyrocket. "In 2013, my city elected a self-described progressive Democrat as mayor. New York City, once described as America’s crime capitol, had become by the mid-1990s America’s safest large city."
Guiliani continued, "Now today, my city is in shock. Murders, shootings, and violent crime are increasing at percentages unheard of in the past. We’re seeing the return of rioting and looting. During riots, this Democrat mayor, like others, has often prevented the police from making arrests. And even when arrests are made, liberal, progressive DA’s released the rioters so as not to disrupt the rioting. He added, "New Yorkers wonder, how did we get overwhelmed by crime so quickly and to decline so fast? Don’t let Democrats do to America what they have done to New York."
"All five of the top cities for homicides, like the top cities for rioting and looting, are governed by progressive Democrats using the progressive Democrat approach to crime, which is to do nothing substantive to reduce it. To release prisoners, as many and as soon as possible, and to go to war with the police, the only group with the capability to protect your citizens.
Guiliani concluded, “In critical times in our history, America has always been blessed with the right person to handle the crisis…Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Reagan were perfect for the challenges they faced and brought our nation through gloriously,” he stated. “President Trump, with his boundless love of our country and all our people, his disciplined work ethic, his exceptional ability to inspire, and his deep understanding of our system of government and the strength of American values is the man we can trust to preserve and even improve our way of life. Mr. President, make our nation safe again.”
Patrick Lynch from the President of the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York spoke about why the violence is happening across the country, “Why is this happening?" he asked. "The answer is simple: The Democrats have walked away from us They have walked away from police officers and they have walked away from the innocent people they protect. Democratic politicians have surrendered our streets and institutions.” He said the choice in November is clear. “You can have four more years of President Trump or you can have no safety, no justice, no peace,” he said.
The widow of retired St. Louis police officer, David Dorn, who was shot and killed during the violence and looting that followed widespread violent riots over racial injustice in June spoke at the event, in an emotional recounting of the night her husband was killed.
“I relive that horror in my mind every single day,” she said speaking of the day David died. “My hope is that having you relive it with me now will help shake this country from this nightmare we are witnessing in our cities and bring about positive, peaceful change.”
“How did we get to this point where so many young people are callous and indifferent towards human life?” she asked. “This isn’t a video game where you can commit mayhem and then hit ‘reset’ and bring all the characters back to life. David is never, never coming back to me. He was murdered by people who didn’t know, and just didn’t care. He would have done anything to help them.”
“President Trump knows we need more Davids in our communities, not fewer. We need to come together in peace and remember that every life is precious,” said Ann Dorn.
“Violence and destruction are not legitimate forms of protest. They do not safeguard black lives. They destroy them,” she said. “President Trump understands this and has offered federal help to restore order in our communities. In a time when police departments are short on resources and manpower, we need that help. We should accept that help. We must heal before we can effect change, but we cannot heal amid devastation and chaos.”
Alice Marie Johnson recalled that her faith is what got her through her almost 22 years in prison, “I was once told that the only way I would ever be reunited with my family would be as a corpse. But by the grace of God and the compassion of President Donald John Trump, I stand before you tonight…and I assure you, I’m not a ghost! I am alive, I am well, and most importantly, I am free,” she began.
“While in prison, I became a playwright, a mentor, a certified hospice volunteer, an ordained minister, and received the Special Olympics Event Coordinator of the Year award for my work with disabled women,” she said, “because the only thing worse than unjustly imprisoning my body is trying to imprison my mind.” Johnson said her “Christian faith … kept hope alive.”
Johnson continued, “When President Trump heard about me — about the injustice of my story — he saw me as a person. He had compassion. And he acted,” she recalled. “I couldn’t believe it. I always remembered that God knew my name, even in my darkest hour. But I never thought a president would!”
Today from the Oval Office, President Trump pardoned Alice Johnson and commuted her sentence.
White House advisor Ivanka Trump celebrated the president’s accomplishments and his efforts to remain true to his 2016 campaign promises.
"Four years ago, I introduced you to a builder, an entrepreneur, an outsider, and the people's nominee for president of the United States," she said. "Tonight, I stand before you as the proud daughter of the people's president."
Ivanka continued, "He is our commander-in-chief, champion of the American worker, defender of common sense and our voice for the forgotten men and women of this country. He is our president and my father, Donald J. Trump."
President Trump gave a memorable 70 plus minute speech (2nd longest convention speech in history behind only Trump’s 2016 speech, according to ABC News). The New York Post reported, "Republicans spent the better part of three nights in their convention presenting softer and gentler sides of President Trump, but the president gets the final words and he came out Thursday in a fighting mood. His acceptance speech detailed his successes and offered promises aplenty for a second term, but the emphasis and energy were committed to a scorched-earth attack on Joe Biden and the Democrats."

President Trump began his speech by stating, "Friends, delegates, and distinguished guests: I stand before you tonight honored by your support; proud of the extraordinary progress we have made together over the last four years and brimming with confidence in the bright future we will build for America over the NEXT four years!"
He thanked his family for the support over the last four years, "Here tonight are the people who have made my journey possible, and filled my life with so much joy. For her incredible service to our nation and its children, I want to thank our magnificent First Lady. I also want to thank my amazing daughter Ivanka for that introduction, and to all of my children and grandchildren – I love you more than words can express. I know my brother Robert is looking down on us right now from Heaven. He was a great brother and was very proud of the job we are doing." He also thanked Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence.
“My fellow Americans, tonight with a heart full of gratitude and boundless optimism, I profoundly accept this nomination for president of the United States,” President Trump declared.

"Gathered here at our beautiful and majestic White House – known all over the world as the People's House – we cannot help but marvel at the miracle that is our Great American Story." He continued, "Despite all of our greatness as a nation, everything we have achieved is now endangered. At no time before have voters faced a clearer choice between two parties, two visions, two philosophies, or two agendas."
"Your vote will decide whether we protect law-abiding Americans, or whether we give free reign to violent anarchists, agitators, and criminals who threaten our citizens," the President said. "I did what our political establishment never expected and could never forgive, breaking the cardinal rule of Washington Politics. I KEPT MY PROMISES. Together, we have ended the rule of the failed political class – and they are desperate to get their power back by any means necessary. They are angry at me because instead of putting THEM FIRST, I put AMERICA FIRST!"
President Trump reminded the American people that Joe Biden wants to defund the police and have more chaos and violence on the streets of America, "Biden is a Trojan horse for socialism. If Joe Biden doesn't have the strength to stand up to wild-eyed Marxists like Bernie Sanders and his fellow radicals, then how is he ever going to stand up FOR you?" He added, "The most dangerous aspect of the Biden Platform is the attack on public safety. The Biden-Bernie Manifesto calls for Abolishing cash bail, immediately releasing 400,000 criminals onto your streets and into your neighborhoods. When asked if he supports cutting police funding, Joe Biden replied, 'Yes, absolutely'. As long as I am President, I will defend the absolute right of every American citizen to live in security, dignity, and peace."

The President continued, "If the Democrat Party wants to stand with anarchists, agitators, rioters, looters, and flag-burners, that is up to them, but I, as your President, will not be a part of it. The Republican Party will remain the voice of the patriotic heroes who keep America Safe."
"Always Remember: they are coming after ME, because I am fighting for YOU. But on November 3rd, you can send them a thundering message they will never forget!" Trump said.
"During their convention, Joe Biden and his supporters remained completely silent about the rioters and criminals spreading mayhem in Democrat-run Cities. In the face of left-wing anarchy and mayhem in Minneapolis, Chicago, and other cities, Joe Biden's campaign did not condemn it – they DONATED to it. Joe Biden is weak." He added, "He takes his marching orders from liberal hypocrites who drive their cities into the ground while fleeing far from the scene of the wreckage. These same liberals want to eliminate school choice, while they enroll their children in the finest private schools in the land. They want to open our borders while living in walled-off compounds and communities. They want to defund the police, while they have armed guards for themselves. Our opponents believe that America is a depraved nation."
"We want our sons and daughters to know the truth: America is the greatest and most exceptional nation in the history of the world! Our country wasn’t built by cancel culture, speech codes, and soul-crushing conformity. We are NOT a nation of timid spirits. We are a nation of fierce, proud, and independent American Patriots," Trump said.
"I want every child in America to know that you are part of the most exciting and incredible adventure in human history. No matter where your family comes from, no matter your background, in America, ANYONE CAN RISE. With hard work, devotion, and drive, you can reach any goal and achieve every ambition." He added, "Over the next four years, we will prove worthy of this magnificent legacy. We will reach stunning new heights. And we will show the world that, for America, no dream is beyond our reach."
"Together, we are unstoppable. Together, we are unbeatable. Because together, we are the proud CITIZENS of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. And on November 3rd, we will make America safer, we will make America stronger, we will make America prouder, and we will make America GREATER than ever before! Thank you, God Bless You. God Bless America." the President concluded.
When the evening ended there was a spectacular fireworks display to the song "Grand Ole Flag" over the Washington Monument. PJ Media reported, "The RNC was stunning, but the magnificent Rose Garden and the powerful “Trump 2020” fireworks at the end truly gave it a wonderful send-off. “You’re a Grand Old Flag” played with the fireworks, celebrating the patriotism of the Republican Party. Fantastic!"
After an amazing evening filled with pride and patriotism, the attendees left the event and were harassed and attacked by protesters. Senator Rand Paul and his wife were shouted down in the street and threatened.
Steve Scalise who attended events this week, tweeted, "Joe Biden's America: Elderly couples, families, and Members of Congress like Rand Paul attacked at the White House. For weeks Democrat politicians and the media have embraced and stirred up the mobs. We've seen the consequences. At what point will they condemn the violence?"
"I can't tell you how I'm not sure we would have made it. They were attempting to push the police over to get to me...you've seen the pictures of what they do to you. If the police are not there, if you defund the police, if we become Portland, if America becomes Portland, what's going to happen is people are going to be pummeled and kicked in the head and left senseless on the curb. That would have happened to us I promise you, had we not had the D.C. police to support us...Thank God for the police. Had we not gotten to the police I truly believe that the police saved our lives and we would not be here today or we would be in a hospital today if the police had not been there," Paul told Fox and Friends Friday morning.
This is the third time Senator Paul (R-KY) has experience violence from the left. In 2017, he was attacked at his home when a leftist neighbor jumped him from behind. Six of his ribs were broken, his lung was punctured and his injuries required surgery. He was also on the baseball field later that year when another leftist, a Bernie supporter, opened fire in an effort to kill as many Republicans as possible. Congressman Steve Scalise was nearly killed after being shot that day.
An elderly couple was also harassed as the walked back to their hotel.
