Ultraprocessed foods comprise half of the average American's diet, and according to Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., are leading to Americans being obese and malnourished at the same time. Kennedy said that Americans don't know about the health consequences of what they eat, thanks to a 67-year-old government exemption allowing ingredients that are generally recognized as safe, or GRAS. Kennedy says the Food and Drug Administration of today doesn't know how many ingredients there are in American products, but he says estimates show there could be somewhere between 4,000 and 10,000 ingredients. "There is no way for any American to know if a product is safe if it is ultraprocessed," Kennedy said...

#9 California Gas Prices Have Risen 40 Cents in the Last 14 Days - Zain Khan for New York Post, Owen Gregorian, David Tangipa, Secretary Chris Wright/CatherineB/Terry Lunsford, Lady, and A horse named Dan on X

These are draining times for your bank account at the gas pump. California gas prices have jumped up 40 cents in two weeks, as refinery closures tighten fuel supplies across the state. The statewide average now stands at $4.582 per gallon, up from $4.463 a week ago and $4.182 just 14 days ago, according to the American Automobile Association.  Energy experts say the spike is tied directly to shrinking refinery capacity. Specifically, Valero’s Benicia refinery — a key Northern California supplier — is in the process of sunsetting operations. The move follows other major pullbacks, including the closure of Phillips 66’s Los Angeles refinery, steadily reducing California’s ability to produce its own gasoline, and driving up costs at the pump...

"It went too far, it's been disruptive and destabilizing, and it needs to be fixed in a humane way with secure borders that don't torture and kill people and how we're going to have a strong family structure because it is at the base of civilization," she added. Clinton also said that "more people were deported under my husband and Barack Obama without killing American citizens and without putting children into detention camps than were in the first Trump term or this first year of Trump's second term."...
