#2 Super Bowl Tech Ad Roundup: Al Can Kill You — or Help Find Your Lost Dog - Kurt Schlosser for GeekWire, Miss Gender/Jani Gem, brig, hasanabi, and Andy Jassy on X
Remember when Clydesdales were a big deal, or just saying “wassup” to your friends on the phone was funny? Well, it’s AI’s world now. Artificial intelligence is taking over the Super Bowl LX commercials, much like the technology is taking over our lives. And that’s a good thing if your dog has gone missing. Or a bad thing if you’re paranoid about Alexa bringing the garage door down on your neck. Amazon and Ring, the security camera company it owns, offer a couple of different AI perspectives in ads airing Sunday. Ring’s ad about how its “Search Party” feature can help recover lost pets is currently the No. 1 pre-game ad according to iSpot, a Bellevue, Wash., company that measures the impact of advertising campaigns on TV and video streaming. But it’s not all AI and technology: Budweiser, Pepsi, and Michelob hold the other top spots so far, according to iSpot. Commercial fans can also see a bunch of ads and rate them with USA Today’s annual “Ad Meter.”
#3 Former FBI Official Raises Doubts About Alleged Guthrie Kidnapping - Stepheny Price for FOX News, Phil Holloway, Ron Wells, America Reports, and The Joe Piscopo Show on X
Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker questioned whether Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is truly a kidnapping during an appearance on "The Big Weekend Show," reacting to a recent video released by Savannah Guthrie. “I’m very skeptical of this,” Swecker said. “Is this really a kidnapping? Does somebody really have her, and is she really alive?” Swecker pointed to the lack of verified proof of life, saying, “If this were a kidnapping, it would be a very simple matter to authenticate and provide proof of life,” adding that such proof has not been “credibly authenticated at this point.” He also raised concerns about the reported Bitcoin ransom, which he notedhad dramatically increased. “Remember now, it was one million not too long ago. All of a sudden, it’s six million,” Swecker said. “I really think there’s a third party here that’s just playing with them, opportunists who think they can exploit this situation.” Swecker emphasized investigators must allow for other possibilities, saying, “You have to allow for the possibility that this was something more or something other than a kidnapping,” while acknowledging the family’s understandable hope as the investigation continues...

U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie had a lively Friday night. His time at the Oldham County Republican Party's Lincoln Day Dinner on Feb. 6 had an abrupt end — a video that went viral in its immediate aftermath showed his speech to the audience was cut off after event emcee and state House Speaker David Osborne, R-Prospect, grabbed his microphone while he was speaking as the congressman went over his allotted time. But Massie ended up spending the night in town. He left the dinner soon after his speech ended, "in solidarity" with supporters who exited the event because he'd been cut off. They ended up grabbing drinks at Ernesto's Mexican Cuisine in La Grange, the congressman said. "I said, 'Well, if they're going to walk out for me, I'll walk out and meet with them,'" Massie told The Courier Journal in an interview the morning after the event...

Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, a co-author of the law that compelled the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, on Sunday called on Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to resign over his links to the late sex offender. Asked on CNN’s “Inside Politics” if Lutnick – who the files show as having planned meetings with Epstein long after saying he broke off contact – should testify, Massie responded, “No, he should just resign. I mean, there are three people in Great Britain that have resigned in politics.” Lutnick said in an interview last year that after a 2005 encounter at Epstein’s home, he grew uncomfortable and vowed that he “will never be in the room with that disgusting person ever again.” But as CNN has previously reported, the documents reveal that Lutnick sought to meet with or call Epstein several times since 2005, including after Epstein pleaded guilty to procuring a minor for prostitution in 2008...

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's chief of staff resigned Sunday over the furor surrounding the appointment of Peter Mandelson as the U.K. ambassador to the U.S. despite his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Morgan McSweeney said he took responsibility for advising Starmer to appoint Mandelson, 72, to Britain's most important diplomatic post in 2024. "The decision to appoint Peter Mandelson was wrong. He has damaged our party, our country and trust in politics itself," McSweeney said in a statement. "When asked, I advised the Prime Minister to make that appointment, and I take full responsibility for that advice."
