#1 Federal Prosecutors Open Criminal Investigation Into the Fed and Jerome Powell - Bryan Mena for CNN, Punchbowl News, RELENTLESSLY Gay, CoinTrend | Crypto News,
Politootin_Kim, Angela Madrid, and Bud Fox on X

President Donald Trump denied having any knowledge of the Justice Department's investigation into the Federal Reserve after the agency subpoenaed the central bank on Friday. “I don’t know anything about it, but he’s certainly not very good at the Fed, and he’s not very good at building buildings,” Trump said of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. Powell said Sunday that the Justice Department was threatening the Federal Reserve with possible criminal indictment related to his testimony before the Senate in June about the renovation of the agency's office buildings.“No one — certainly not the chair of the Federal Reserve — is above the law,” Powell said. “But this unprecedented action should be seen in the broader context of the administration’s threats and ongoing pressure.” The move comes after a yearlong campaign by Trump to pressure Powell to lower interest rates, and Powell said Sunday he believed the latest move by the administration was part of that effort...

The dollar weakened, and gold hit a record high Monday as investors digested news that the US Justice Department is probing the Federal Reserve, raising fears over the central bank's independence against President Donald Trump's push for lower rates. European stocks wavered after a strong showing in Asia, seen on the back of solid gains on Wall Street before the weekend. Gold climbed close to $4,600 an ounce while silver approached $85 an ounce as investors sought traditional safe havens...

#3 Cuban President Says US Has ‘No Moral Authority' - David Brennan for ABC News, The White House, Giselle Karney, Vpol, RETIRE THAILAND PARADISE, and Joe Mauro on X

In an apparent response to an earlier social media post from President Donald Trump, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez posted on social media Sunday, saying in part, "they have no moral authority to point fingers at Cuba on anything, absolutely anything, those who turn everything into a business, even human lives." He concluded the post, "Cuba is a free, independent, and sovereign nation. No one dictates what we do. Cuba does not aggress; it is aggressed upon by the United States for 66 years, and it does not threaten; it prepares, ready to defend the Homeland to the last drop of blood." Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also posted a statement, saying in part, "Like any country, Cuba has the absolute right to import fuel from those markets willing to export it, and that exercise their own right to develop their trade relations without interference or subordination to the unilateral coercive measures" of the United States...

President Trump was briefed on new options for military strikes in Iran, a senior U.S. official confirmed Sunday. Mr. Trump appeared to lay out his red line for action on Friday when he warned that if the Iranian government began "killing people like they have in the past, we would get involved." "We'll be hitting them very hard where it hurts," he said at the White House. "And that doesn't mean boots on the ground, but it means hitting them very, very hard where it hurts." On social media, Mr. Trump offered his support for the protesters, saying that "Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!"

#5 Recall of Cheese Products Upgraded to Highest Danger Level Over Listeria-Causing Bacteria: FDA - Landon Mion for FOXBusiness, KARE 11, WXYZ Detroit, KWKT FOX 44, and wtafisgoingon on X

The Food and Drug Administration announced that a recall of cheese products has been upgraded to the most serious risk category after testing positive for a potentially deadly bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes. The Ambriola Company first issued a voluntary recall in November for certain cheese products produced at the company's facility in West Caldwell, New Jersey, after routine testing confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, bacteria that can cause severe illness and even death, particularly among pregnant women, the elderly, young children, and people with weakened immune systems...

#6 New York City Expects Biggest Nurses Strike as Nearly 15,000 Set to Walk Off Job - Marina Dunbar for The Guardian, Q, WFUV News, DrParMeDick, CBS Philadelphia, and The Saratogian on X

Thousands of nurses are set to walk off the job at several of New York City’s largest hospitals on Monday, staging a strike amid an intense flu season. The action comes three years after a previous strike that compelled some of the same hospitals to move patients elsewhere and reroute ambulances. Hospital operations are expected to be disrupted at a number of major private institutions, including Mount Sinai in Manhattan, Montefiore medical center in the Bronx, and NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving medical center. Close to 15,000 nurses are participating, making it the biggest nurses' strike the city has ever seen. Most union members voted last month to authorize the walkout...

#7 Investigation Raises Concerns About Lack of FDA Quality Testing for Generic Drugs - John Yang for PBS, ChiBarb, Cynthia Scott, and Church Security Institute Network on X
According to some estimates, approximately 90% of prescriptions in the U.S. are filled with generic drugs. The Food and Drug Administration says that all agency-approved generic drugs “have the same high quality” as brand-name drugs, but a ProPublica investigation found that the FDA rarely tests the quality of generic drugs. John Yang speaks with investigative reporter Debbie Cenziper for more.

#8 Newborns, Vitamin K, and Nature’s Original Design - Tracy Beanz and Michelle Edwards for The HighWire, Jessica Rojas, Valerie Ann Smith, and Kelly DNP Functional/Integrative Medicine on X
Despite man’s repeated attempts to override it, nature, in all of its magical wonder, very rarely makes mistakes. Nevertheless, the moment a newborn baby emerges into the world, that innate sentiment is swiftly escorted out of the hospital room. In this case, a nurse leans in and firmly, perhaps semi-sweetly, declares, “We need to give your baby a vitamin K shot.” There is no pause, no room for debate, and very little time for question. It’s protocol, after all. And just like that, in the first precious minutes of life, a newborn child receives its first medical intervention. Why? Because your baby, they insist, is born deficient in vitamin K, in clotting ability. To them, it is necessary and no big deal.

#9 Bongino Flamed by His Former Fans Upon Big Return to Podcasting - Tom Latchem for Daily Beast/Yahoo News, Dave Smith/Bongino Report, Eric Daugherty, Nick's Dank Memes, Being Libertarian, and TONY on X

Dan Bongino’s less-than-triumphant return to the MAGA podcast world after leaving the FBI kicked off with a wave of former fans raging about his handling of the Epstein files. Bongino, 51, a former New York City cop and Secret Service agent, walked away from his job as deputy director of the FBI on Jan. 3—barely 10 months after President Donald Trump, 79, installed him in the bureau’s No. 2 role. For years before that promotion, he had built a lucrative podcasting brand railing about the “deep state” and demanding full, unredacted publication of documents relating to the late pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein—which is why many of his fans were shocked to see him apparently help the administration do the opposite...

#10 Minneapolis Mayor Frey Admits Real Welfare Fraud in Minnesota Scandals - The Hill, Libs of TikTok, Defiant L's. X 22 Report, JULIE DONUTS, and Paul A. Szypula on X

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) commented on a recent fraud scandal in his state that has drawn national attention, saying, “You do not hold an entire community, any community, accountable for the actions of individuals.” “Obviously, everybody could have done more to prevent fraud. And I think that’s a fair point to make. You do more to prevent fraud. And you look what he’s doing right now. He’s setting up a whole bunch of infrastructure to do that. And by the way, look, the fraud’s real. We’ve all got to acknowledge it,” Frey told NBC News’s Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press,” referencing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D)...
