#1 Supreme Court’s Dismissal of B.C. Ostrich Cull Appeal Has ‘Political and Social’ Implications: Virologist - Aarjavee Raaj for Canada TV News, Rebel News, Jason Lavigne, Efrain Flores Monsanto/Drea Humphrey, Bruce, Chet Rune, and @amuse on X

The Supreme Court’s decision not to hear the case regarding the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) order to cull ostriches on a B.C. farm set off a wave of reactions across Canada. Angie Rasmussen, a virologist at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) at the University of Saskatchewan, told CTVNews.ca Thursday that the hearing was dismissed because the CFIA has the “legal authority” to manage avian flu outbreaks. “The policy that Canada has agreed to within our international trade agreements is the stamping-out policy, as established by the World Organization for Animal Health,” Rasmussen explained. She called it the CFIA’s “obligation” to make sure the agreements are upheld. She also disagreed with the argument, made by those advocating for the ostriches, that not testing the birds “defies common sense.”

A federal judge in Rhode Island has ordered the Trump administration to deliver SNAP payments in full to states by Friday. The order, which U.S. District Judge John McConnell issued Thursday afternoon, followed two weeks of chaos and confusion about the fate of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps, during the government shutdown. McConnell ruled last week that the Trump administration had to distribute benefits as soon as possible, in response to a lawsuit filed by the progressive legal advocacy group Democracy Forward...

#3 Indiana AG Files Lawsuit to Stop “Sanctuary” School District Policies that Obstruct Federal Immigration Enforcement - America First Policy Institute, AG Todd Rokita/Libs of TikTok, Glenn Beck, MJTruthUltra, Fox59 News, Leigh Ann O'Neil, and KGW News on X

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita today filed a lawsuit against Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS), alleging that the district has adopted and maintained policies that violate state law by obstructing cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. The complaint seeks an injunction to end IPS’s “sanctuary” policies, which prevent school employees from voluntarily assisting federal immigration authorities, even in cases involving potential family reunification or the safety of unaccompanied minors. According to the complaint, IPS administrators and legal staff recently mobilized district employees to block a father — who was scheduled for voluntary deportation — from retrieving his son from school to depart together. Despite ICE providing lawful documentation, the school refused to release the child, triggering a multi-hour standoff that separated parent and child and disrupted federal proceedings...

Rep. Nancy Pelosi is calling it quits. The California Democrat announced Thursday that she will not seek reelection for another term, closing the book on a storied, four-decade career through which she rewrote history as the country’s first female Speaker, advanced some of the most consequential legislation of the modern era, and secured her place as among the most powerful — if polarizing — lawmakers ever to serve in Congress. In a video posted to social media, Pelosi described her love for San Francisco, saying that of all the titles she’s held, “there has been no greater honor for me than to stand on the House floor and say I speak for the people of San Francisco.”

Tesla shareholders approved a pay package on Thursday that could make CEO Elon Musk, already the world’s richest person, the world’s first trillionaire. Tesla announced that more than 75% of shares voted in favor of the pay package during the company’s annual shareholder meeting. The vote didn’t include the 15% of the company that Musk already owns. The crowd at the meeting broke into cheers and chants when the results were announced. Musk thanked the shareholders and the Tesla board soon after. “I super appreciate it,” he said. Musk doesn’t take any salary, but the approved pay package comes in the form of a stock grant that would give him as much as 423.7 million additional Tesla shares over the next 10 years.

#7 Bill Gates and the Death of His Climate Crisis Agenda - Tracy Beanz and Michelle Edwards for The HighWire, UncoverDC, 𝕁𝕦𝕝𝕚𝕒 𝔻𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕪/Mother Jones, Micheál Martin/Koz, Governor Gavin Newsom/Washington Examiner/Gonemad, Paula, and Bart Landyut on X
Bill Gates recently published a Gates Notes that sounded less like his characteristic call to arms against devastating climate change and more like a strategic repositioning. In his memo, titled “Three Tough Truths About Climate,” Gates plainly noted the climate crisis he’d preached about and written a book on “will not lead to humanity’s demise” as he’d previously clamored. No indeed. Instead, he urged the world to focus not just on temperature targets, but on human welfare. On the surface, it appears Gates is essentially broadening his concern by confirming that, yes, climate change is serious, but the real metric is human welfare, innovation, and cost-effectiveness. Still, as with anything Bill Gates does, scrutiny is critical because, beneath the surface of his musings, undoubtedly lies a deeper agenda driven by greed and profit...

#8 Trump Strikes Deal to Lower Cost of Weight Loss Drugs - Berkeley Lovelace Jr. for NBC News, The White House, The HighWire, Digital Gal, Howard Lutnick, Trump War Room, MJTruthUltra, and Five Times August on X

President Donald Trump said Thursday his administration has reached a deal to lower the cost of the blockbuster GLP-1 weight loss drugs, Wegovy and Zepbound — a move that could significantly expand access to the wildly popular drugs, though some details remained unclear. Under the deal, the monthly out-of-pocket cost of the drugs could range from $50 to around $350, depending on the dosage and insurance coverage. Currently, Eli Lilly's Zepbound and Novo Nordisk's Wegovy carry list prices above $1,000 a month, although both companies have introduced lower cost options for patients paying in cash and purchasing the drugs directly through their websites. To further expand access, Costco recently announced it would sell Wegovy and Ozempic for $499 for people who paid cash, while Walmart launched a similar arrangement with Lilly’s Zepbound...

Big Apple billionaire John Catsimatidis planned to move his business to New Jersey if Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor. Now he’s reconsidering. New York City supermarket billionaire John Catsimatidis went nuclear in June, when Zohran Mamdani, who had proposed opening a cheap city-run grocery store in each of the five boroughs, won the democratic primary for mayor. Catsimatidis held a press conference with Bodega owners, publicly threatened to shut down his 30-plus stores if the democratic socialist won the election, and ranted on TV. “He’s not qualified... this is silly,” he said on FOX News, comparing Mamdani to Fidel Castro. “It’s one big con game.”
