FBI Whistleblower's Ongoing Battle: 1,000 Days Without Resolution

A dubious anniversary is coming up on June 22—a date that marks the 1,000th day Garret O'Boyle has been on a permanent, unpaid suspension from the FBI. O'Boyle is one of four FBI employees who the FBI suspended for taking part in Whistleblowing activities. Two other suspended whistleblowers resigned from the FBI and started new careers. Marcus Allen was reinstated, provided back pay, and then resigned from the agency. O'Boyle is still waiting.

Many thought that his unpaid suspended status would be rectified with the new administration and FBI directors—it hasn't been. O'Boyle was accused of speaking to "Project Veritas," something another whistleblower publicly admitted to. Yet O'Boyle remains on an unpaid suspension.

Recently, former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin, in his morning podcast, "The Kyle Seraphin Show," played a video showing the world that he was the one responsible for talking to Project Veritas and that Garret O'Boyle had nothing to do with it. The video is an hour long, but the pertinent part of this information starts at approximately 50 minutes into the episode.

More than 1,000 days ago, O'Boyle, his wife, and four kids, one only 2 weeks old at the time, were moving so O'Boyle could take a new position in the DC area with the FBI. Mid-move, the FBI suspended him. Since the FBI was moving their belongings, the FBI held those items hostage and refused to return even their kids' winter coats or their bicycles. The O'Boyles weren't reimbursed for the moving expenses, which the FBI would have covered before the suspension. Since the suspension occurred in the middle of his move, he resorted to living in a camper parked at a relative's residence in Wisconsin.

O'Boyle was part of the group which testified in front of the Weaponization Committee of Congress on May 18, 2023 where he said these haunting words, "The FBI will crush you, the government will crush you and your family, if you try to expose the truth about things they are doing that are wrong." After the testimony, even the Chair of that Committee, Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan, and many other Congressional Reps and Senators have been silent about his plight.

It was his testimony during this congressional hearing that prompted Congressional members NY Democrat Jerry Nadler and Virgin Islands Democrat Stacy Plaskett to refer O'Boyle to the DOJ for lying to Congress. He denied in his testimony that he leaked confidential information to Project Veritas, but the Democrats on the committee didn't believe him—something that the video above clarifies. Nadler and Plaskett requested that former Attorney General Merrick Garland investigate O'Boyle. At the time, a Department of Justice spokesperson acknowledged the receipt of the information but had no other comment.

O'Boyle started as an FBI agent in Wichita, Kansas, in 2018 after serving in the military and local law enforcement. When suspended, he lost his income, health insurance, and home. He would have to obtain permission from the FBI to hold employment outside of the department.

Followers of the group of suspended FBI and former FBI agents who refer to themselves as "The Suspendables" believed the situation with O'Boyle would be rectified, specifically based on the known previous support of new FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino. Director Patel even helped to raise money for the suspended agents before taking the helm at the FBI through his Fight With Kash Foundation. So far, nothing has happened, and O'Boyle is closing in on that 1,000-day mark.

Followers of the American Radicals Podcast, which features Stephen Friend, the fourth whistleblower, and Garret O'Boyle, have gotten together and decided to try to bring attention to the situation. The listeners each decided to donate $10.00 to the GiveSendGo account set up for O'Boyle—the amount is reminiscent of O'Boyle's 1,000 days in limbo.

Other than fans of the American Radicals Podcast, the Kyle Seraphin Show, and The Suspendables, it appears that the congressional representatives who brought Garret O'Boyle to testify during the hearing have all but forgotten his name. It is as if they served the purpose of a hearing and weren't "needed" anymore.

Fans and others hope that many people will join in on June 22 by donating to the O'Boyles as they continue to wait for the FBI to resolve the situation. As of now, there is no indication that the FBI intends to do so.

In March 2025, the American Center for Law and Justice, ACLJ, representing O'Boyle, filed a formal request with the FBI to reconsider its actions against O'Boyle.
