#10 Fires Set in Drop Boxes Destroy Hundreds of Ballots in Washington and Damage 3 in Oregon - Gene Johnson and Claire Rush for AP News, Catholic Vote, Catch Up, and PJ Media on X

Incendiary devices were set off Monday at two ballot drop boxes — one in Portland and another in nearby Vancouver, Washington — destroying hundreds of ballots in what one official called a “direct attack on democracy” about a week before a heated Election Day. The early morning fire at the drop box in Portland was extinguished quickly thanks to a suppression system inside the box as well as a nearby security guard, police said, and just three ballots were damaged there. But within a few hours, another fire was discovered at a transit center drop box across the Columbia River in Vancouver. Vancouver is the biggest city in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, the site of what is expected to be one of the closest U.S. House races in the country, between first-term Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican challenger Joe Kent...

#9 Biden-Harris Admin Taps Org That Backs Open Borders, Reparations To Help Dole Out Taxpayer Dollars In Red States - Adam Pack for The Daily Caller, and Nhan on X

The Biden-Harris administration selected a left-wing entity that advocates for open borders, reparations for black people and anti-Israel activism to help disburse millions of taxpayer dollars in predominantly-Republican states, the Daily Caller News Foundation has learned. In December 2023, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) selected the Seattle, Washington-based Community-Centric Fundraising (CCF) to serve as an “equitable funding advisory/training partner” for a $50 million award under the Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) $3 billion Environmental and Climate Justice Block Grants provision. CCF has consistently advocated for defunding the police and “Palestine’s freedom” in addition to encouraging grassroot organizations to publicly support “Black Lives Matter” and create an “advocacy plan.”

#8 Sanctuary City Sending Thousands of Migrants Back to Texas by Plane, Bus - Adam Shaw and Brooke Taylor for Fox News, and EJW on X

New York City is buying tickets for thousands of migrants to travel to Texas via bus or plane, from where many of them originally traveled to the sanctuary city in the first place, amid an ongoing battle between officials over how to handle the migrant crisis. New York City, which has been overwhelmed by more than 200,000 migrant arrivals since 2022, has been providing settlement options to migrants since that time. Last year, it opened a reticketing center to offer one-way plane tickets to migrants. Fox News confirms that 4,500 migrants have been sent to Texas using bus or plane tickets bought by the city. The figure was first reported by Bloomberg News.

#7 Lithium Battery Fires Spark Safety Debate - Nancy Loo for News Nation, Bill Heller, PsyberspaceSuperstar, and Rachel Tassiker on X

Lithium batteries are better for the ozone, but they are causing a different kind of environmental problem in the form of fires. In Los Angeles, authorities have documented multiple highway fires caused by trucks carrying or powered by lithium batteries, which emit toxic gasses when they burn. The city also had to shut down its port for more than two days because of a lithium-ion battery fire, leading some lawmakers to call for safety improvement. There are more than a million electric vehicles on the roads in California, and the state is making a major push toward going all-electric, raising the odds for major incidents. Last month, a big rig loaded with lithium batteries crashed and caught fire, spewing toxic gasses and shutting down access to the Port of Los Angeles. Over the summer, another truck crashed, and a battery fire with a thermal runaway shut down Interstate 15 for two days near San Bernadino...

#6 RNC Pleads for the Supreme Court to Intervene in Pennsylvania Mail Ballot Case - Misty Severi for Just the News, John Solomon, George, and Adam Klasfeld on X

The Republican National Committee (RNC) on Monday asked the Supreme Court to wade into a Pennsylvania mail-in ballot case, arguing the state Supreme Court "misread" the state Election Code. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled last week that voters can still cast provisional ballots in person this November if mail ballots are rejected for failing to follow procedural directions, such as not including the mandatory secrecy envelopes, which voters are required to sign and date.  The RNC claimed the court misread state law, which says a “provisional ballot shall not be counted” if the mail ballot was received by county election officials in a timely manner...

#5 Jeff Bezos Blasts Media Bias in Op-Ed for His Own Paper - Ryan Saavedra for The Daily Wire, Trump 2024 No Matter What, Brian Cates, and Ian Miles Cheong on X

Jeff Bezos, the owner of The Washington Post, slammed the media’s left-wing bias in an op-ed published Monday night at the Post. “In the annual public surveys about trust and reputation, journalists and the media have regularly fallen near the very bottom, often just above Congress,” Bezos wrote. “But in this year’s Gallup poll, we have managed to fall below Congress. Our profession is now the least trusted of all. Something we are doing is clearly not working.” He said that newspaper must not only be accurate, but they must also be believed to be accurate, a measure that he says the media has failed miserably at because of bias...

#4 “Tackling Obesity”: NHS & Eli Lilly Announce Mounjaro Clinical Trial in UK - Tracy Beanz and Michelle Edwards for The HighWire, Joel Chan, Esther McVey, and Denise Carver on X
Obesity is not just an epidemic in the United States. It torments those living in Great Britain, too, where the most obese patients cost the National Health Service (NHS), one of the nation’s most praiseworthy institutions, an average of $2,416 a year. The health impact of obesity in Britain is significant—it is the second largest preventable cause of cancer and costs the NHS roughly $14 billion a year. Speaking up about the growing problem, British Member of Parliament (MP) and Health Secretary Wes Streeting recently stated that “widening waistbands” burdened the NHS. But, eureka, Streeting has found a “game-changing” solution. Without question, obesity wrecks one’s health, so what is Streeting’s scheme? Lo and behold, under Streeting’s lead, NHS has partnered with Lilly—the world’s largest pharmaceutical company—in a $360 million investment deal from the drug manufacturing giant to perform real-world trials of its star obesity jab Mounjaro on the unemployed...

#3 Virginia Asks US Supreme Court To Allow Its Removal Of Non-Citizens From Voter Rolls - Tyler Durden Zero Hedge, Angie, Benjamin Weingarten, and Insurrection Barbie on X
Virginia officials filed an emergency application with the U.S. Supreme Court on Oct. 28 asking the justices to allow the state to remove suspected noncitizens from the voter rolls.

The application was filed in the case known as Beals v. Virginia Coalition for Immigrant Rights. The application was directed to Chief Justice John Roberts, who oversees emergency litigation from Virginia. The lead applicant, Susan Beals, is Virginia’s Commissioner of Elections. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit found unanimously on Oct. 27 that taking the names off the voter rolls within 90 days of an approaching federal election appears to violate the National Voter Registration Act...

#2 ‘Shut It Down’: Red State Makes Massive Land Buy to Ramp up Border Wall Efforts Amid Migrant Surge - Adam Shaw for Fox News, and PSP12 on X

The state of Texas has taken another major step in its efforts to build a wall at its border with Mexico, acquiring a 1,400 acre ranch along the Rio Grande in a key area that officials say has seen human trafficking, as well as weapons and drug smuggling. The Texas General Land Office (GLO) has acquired the ranch in Starr County, in Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Sector, which saw some of the highest levels of migrant traffic. The state will now use that land to build additional border wall. Gov. Greg Abbott announced in 2021 funding for a state project to continue construction of a wall after the Biden administration abruptly ended the Trump-era project. Abbott has also built a floating buoy barrier in the Rio Grande. His administration has linked the barriers, and a broader effort by the state, to a drop in apprehensions.
