#10 Six Indicted for Voter Fraud in Ohio - J.D. Davidson for The Center Square, Morgan Trau, and Insurrection Barbie on X

Six of the nearly 140 people referred to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost by Secretary of State Frank LaRose for illegal voting have been indicted. Yost announced Tuesday seven cases were presented to grand juries last week, resulting in six indictments for illegal voting. A grand jury refused to indict the seventh. Five of the indictments involved legal U.S. permanent residents without citizenship. The sixth involved a noncitizen who accused of voting in 2014, 2016, and 2018. Only two of the indictments involved the 2020 election. “The right to vote is sacred,” Yost said. “If you’re not a U.S. citizen, it’s illegal to vote – whether you thought you were allowed to or not – you will be held accountable.”

Residents from another midwestern town, this time in Indiana, say city resources are being strained, and their children put last due to a sudden influx of migrants from Haiti. Thousands of new migrants, hailing mostly from Haiti, are now living in Logansport, Indiana, a town with a population of just 18,000. Though local officials say they have not been given any answers on just how many migrants have moved in, estimates range from 3,000 to 5,000 Haitians. The surrounding areas have seen an influx as well, with an estimated 11,000 new migrants county-wide. Logansport Mayor Chris Martin has said that there are “assimilation issues” related to culture, according to a report from the New York Post...

#7 Trial to Start for Man Accused in Chokehold Death on NYC Subway - Janelle Griffith for NBC News, I Meme Therefore I Am, police.law.news. SlsCartoon, and New York Post on X

A widely shared video of a former Marine wrapping his arms around a man’s neck and restraining him in a chokehold until he died on the floor of a New York City subway car will play a key role in the trial of Daniel Penny, who is charged in the death of Jordan Neely. Both Penny’s attorneys and those prosecuting him say they will use the four-minute video to bolster their arguments in a case that became a flashpoint in the nation’s long-standing debate over racial justice and, closer to home, the safety of the city’s subway system. Attorneys for Penny, 26, who is white, say their client did not apply enough pressure for the hold to be deadly, while prosecutors argue he used excessive force to take the life of Neely, a 30-year-old Black man who worked as a Michael Jackson impersonator...

#5 Gov. Desantis Says Proposed Florida Amendment on Abortion Is Too Vague - Teri Hornstein for CBS News, Libs of TikTok, Ron DeSantis, and Catholic Vote on X

As early voting gets underway in South Florida, voters and state officials are expressing how they feel about Amendment 4. The ballot summary for the proposed amendment to the state's constitution reads: "No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient's health, as determined by the patient's healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature's constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion."The group Floridians Protecting Freedom, Inc. started a petition and got the amendment on the ballot — something Mary Taylor is happy about...

#4 US Regulator Finalizes Air Taxi Rules - Agence France Presse for Barrons, Fortune, and FAA Mike Whitaker on X

US regulators on Tuesday finalized regulations for "powered lift" vehicles, opening the door for commercial air taxis. The rules apply to aircraft that "have the characteristics of both airplanes and helicopters," the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement, and come as several companies explore lower-cost, electric-powered air transit. The new regulations were needed because existing rules didn't address these new types of aircraft, which can take off vertically -- like helicopters -- before flying horizontally, similar to an airplane, the FAA said. The rules would establish the first new category of civilian aircraft since helicopters came to the market in the 1940s, the regulator added...

The pink powder — really a grab bag of different drugs dyed pink — has turned up in drug seizures, prompting warnings from law enforcement. Pink cocaine is also known as “tusi,” but both nicknames for the powder are more about marketing than reality. Experts say it rarely contains cocaine and is more likely to contain ketamine, a drug with very different effects...
