#10 Google’s Takeover of America - Tracy Beanz and Michelle Edwards for The HighWire, Man in America, Robert E. Siegel, Josh Hawley, The Globe and Mail, and Omnibyte Creators on X
Is Google to be trusted? A recently released report by the multinational technology conglomerate itself, titled “Google is helping America become stronger, safer and more competitive than ever before,” notes that, with its AI technology, the company has invested over $49 billion in research and development to “power American technological leadership.” Clearly written with a narrative carefully crafted to highlight Google’s positive impact, it is essential to state that Google’s global reach and ambition to shape a tech-driven future across the United States of America and the world at large could also be seen as strategically motivated by presenting the company as an indispensable driver of economic and technological advancement, while carefully sidestepping a plethora of ongoing negative criticism. Thus, the report is telling...#9 Trump Tours “Alligator Alcatraz” Immigration Detention Center in Florida - Kathryn Watson for CBS News, Breaking News, Liberty Nation, Tracie Murray, Bob Cundiff, Rapid Stream News, and Alex Jones on X
President Trump on Tuesday toured the site of a new immigration detention center in South Florida that state officials are calling "Alligator Alcatraz." Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem are visiting the facility alongside the president. The controversial detention facility is at the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport in the Florida Everglades, which has its own runway in an environment known for its treacherous terrain and wildlife. Mr. Trump joked in his remarks that "we're going to teach them how to run away from an alligator if they escape prison." Mr. Trump invited the press to join his tour of the makeshift facility, which he called "so professional and so well done." Rows of bunk beds were lined up behind chain fences. The president was asked if it could be a model going forward for other detention sites. "It can be," he responded, adding that such a location is rare. Mr. Trump said he'd like to see similar temporary facilities in "many states."
#8 Trump Threatens Japan With Tariff up to 35% as Deadline Looms - Peter Hoskins for BBC, Bloomberg, RT, Evan, The Japan Times, and Thomas P. Logan on X
US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a "30% or 35%" tariff on Japan if a deal between the two countries is not reached before a deadline next week. That would be well above the 24% tariff Japan was hit with as part of Trump's so-called "Liberation Day" on 2 April, when he announced steep import duties on countries around the world. The tariffs on most US trading partners, including Japan, were later lowered to 10% for 90 days to give them time to negotiate deals with Washington. That pause is due to expire on 9 July and Trump has said he is not planning to extend the deadline...
#7 Judge Says Trump Administration Can’t End Protected Status for Haitian Migrants This Year - Joe Walsh for CBS News, Reuters, Haitian Times, POLITICO, KTRH News, and Axios on X
The Trump administration cannot cut off legal status and work permits for hundreds of thousands of Haitian migrants this fall, a federal judge ruled late Tuesday. The ruling by Brooklyn-based U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan, who was nominated by former President George W. Bush in 2006, prevents Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem from following through on a plan to revoke temporary protected status, or TPS, of Haitians living in the U.S. under the program on Sept. 3, a few months before their status was set to expire under a Biden-era deadline. Nearly 350,000 people from Haiti are currently enrolled in the TPS program, which allows migrants to remain in the U.S. if their home country is unsafe due to war or natural disaster. The federal government first granted TPS designation to Haiti in 2010, and the Biden administration extended it for Haitian migrants until February 2026...
#6 Trump Says Israel Has Agreed to Conditions for 60-Day Gaza Ceasefire - Wyre Davies and James Chater for BBC News, Charlie Kirk/Donald J. Trump, Election Wizard, Evan Kilgore, Vince Langman, and Haassan Farah on X
Israel has agreed to the "necessary conditions" to finalise a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, US President Donald Trump has said. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that during the proposed ceasefire, the US would "work with all parties to end the War". He did not provide details on what the ceasefire would entail. "The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope... that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE," Trump wrote. Israel has not confirmed it agreed to the conditions of a deal. A Hamas official told the BBC the group is "ready and serious" to reach an agreement if it ends the war...
#5 Paramount Agrees to Settle Trump Lawsuit for $16 Million - Sara Fischer for Axios, Stephanie Stephens, Tom Moore, Julien, Jody Kennedy, and Devin Nunes Cattle Dog on X
CBS parent Paramount Global on Tuesday said it would pay $16 million to settle a voter interference lawsuit filed by President Trump last October, even as press freedom advocates warned the company was buckling to political pressure. A settlement likely clears the way for Paramount Global to merge with Skydance Media. Paramount and Skydance agreed to merge in a deal worth more than $8 billion last July. The deal is largely seen as an escape valve for owner Shari Redstone, who has faced pressure from shareholders to offload the legacy TV asset while it still has value. "The settlement does not include a statement of apology or regret," per a statement from Paramount Global on the deal to settle the suit Trump filed over the editing of a "60 Minutes" interview with his 2024 election rival, former Vice President Harris...
#4 Trump Says He’ll ‘Look’ at Deporting Musk as Feud Reignites - ABC News, Doge Designer, The Spectator Index, Elon Musk/Valentine Gomez, Globe Eye News, and Aaron Rupar on X
President Donald Trump told reporters Tuesday his administration will "have to take a look" at deporting Elon Musk after the billionaire reignited the feud with the president over his spending bill. Musk, a South African national and a naturalized U.S. citizen, made several weekend X posts slamming Republicans over the "Big Beautiful Bill," arguing that it was adding more debt. "It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS, that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!" Musk posted Monday afternoon. In political terms,"pork" generally refers to spending in lawmakers' constituencies...
#3 Elon Musk Vows to Start a New Political Party After Trump Feud - Joe Walsh for CBS News, Reeve Swainston Esq./Elon Musk, Chief Nerd, The Shallow State, Kevin Sorbo, and Holden Culotta on X
As billionaire Elon Musk feuds with President Trump over his signature tax and domestic policy legislation, Musk has reupped his calls to launch a new political party — a daunting task even for the wealthiest person on Earth. Musk first floated launching a third party, dubbed the "America Party," earlier this month, part of a nasty back-and-forth between the president and the Tesla CEO that marked the likely end of their political alliance. Musk raised the idea again this week as lawmakers raced to send the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to Mr. Trump's desk — and this time, Musk put a time limit on the plan. "If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day," Musk wrote in a post on X Monday evening, hours before the bill passed the Senate on Tuesday and headed back to the House. "Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE."
#2 Pentagon Halts Weapons Shipment to Ukraine Amid Concerns Over U.S. Stockpile - NBC News, Nick Sortor, Disclose.tv, Concerned Citizen, Steve Gruber, and Pecan on X
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered a pause in sending a shipment of missiles and ammunition to Ukraine amid concern about the U.S. military’s stockpiles, according to two defense officials, two congressional officials, and two sources with knowledge of the decision. Hegseth ordered the delay weeks after he issued a memo ordering a review of the U.S. stockpile of munitions, which has been depleted after years of the United States’ sending weapons to Ukraine to defend against the Russia invasion, as well as nearly two years of military operations in the Middle East as the United States fought Houthi rebels in Yemen and defended Israel and allies against Iran, four of the officials said...
#1 Trump Bill Latest: House Republicans Threaten to Tank ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ After Marathon Vote Passes Welfare Cuts - Joe Sommerlad LIVE on Independent, USA TODAY Politics, Carmona, Cameron, PURE RASTA LOVE, MSN, and KTVE - KARD on X
President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” returns to the House of Representatives on Wednesday after a drastically revised version was narrowly voted through the Senate on Tuesday. Republicans in the upper chamber of Congress required a tie-breaking vote from Vice President JD Vance to push through the mammoth tax and spending legislation, which aims to boost defense and border security funding at the expense of welfare programs while driving up the national debt. Three members of the GOP held out against the bill – Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Susan Collins of Maine – effectively nullifying their party’s majority in the Senate and leading to a 50-50 split that required Vance’s intervention to overcome...
