#10 ‘West Wing’ creator Aaron Sorkin shares ‘script’ for how he’d save the Democrats — nominating Mitt Romney - Hanna Panreck, FoxNews for The New York Post

Aaron Sorkin, the creator of the ’90s NBC drama “The West Wing,” suggested on Sunday that the Democratic Party nominate a Republican, Senator Mitt Romney, to stop former President Donald Trump. Back in 2012, Sorkin lobbied Obama to repeatedly call Romney a liar at debates. “Nominating Mr. Romney would be putting our money where our mouth is: a clear and powerful demonstration that this election isn’t about what our elections are usually about, but about stopping a deranged man from taking power,” Sorkin touted in an op-ed for the New York Times, before Biden announced his decision to not stand for re-election.

#9 Forcing President Biden out of Campaign May Have Been More about Congress than White House - Chad Pergram, Fox News
Switching out President Biden for someone else may not have been so much about getting someone to defeat former President Trump but rather about saving seats down-ballot. In other words, polling has revealed that Harris does not match up much better than Biden. But it may be just enough to salvage seats. The Senate will be tough to hold. But this strategy may be all about flipping the House. The current breakdown is 220 Republicans to 213 Democrats with two vacancies. Democrats need to change a little more than a handful of those seats to reclaim the House.

#8 Here Comes the Wave of Insurance Claims for the CrowdStrike Outage - Lian Kit Wee, Business Insider
Friday's massive CrowdStrike outage grounded businesses and services worldwide to a screeching halt. Now, some of those affected are looking to recoup their losses. Damages to businesses included grounded flights, which left thousands of passengers stranded at airports, delivery delays, and closed stores and amusement parks. "Economic damages could reach tens of billions of dollars," Nir Perry, CEO of cyber insurance risk platform Cyberwrite, told Reuters on Saturday.

#7 Inflation Cools, but We’re Not Out of the Woods Yet - Jim Nelles, Blaze Media
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released the June 2024 Consumer Price Index report last week, showing a 3% year-over-year inflation rate, which exceeded economists’ expectations. The core CPI, which excludes food and energy costs, increased by 0.1% month-over-month, reaching 3.3% for the year. Left-leaning economic pundits in the mainstream media are now calling for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates at its next meeting in September. However, a rate cut is not warranted right now.

#6 America Officially Dethrones Its Top-Selling Beer. All Hail The New King! - Kay Smythe, Daily Caller
After Bud Light’s leadership decided to utterly destroy their brand and careers by hiring Dylan Mulvaney — a biological male who dresses up as a horrendously insulting parody of a woman — as their brand ambassador, America bit back by deciding to boycott Bud’s bullsh*t. Modelo Especial is officially America’s top choice of beer, ending a decades-long rule by Bud, according to The Wall Street Journal.

#5 Hundreds of Migrants Leave Southern Mexico on Foot in a New Caravan Headed for the US Border - Edgar H. Clemente, AP News
Hundreds of migrants from around a dozen countries left from Mexico’s southern border on foot Sunday, as they attempt to make it to the U.S. border. Some of the members of the group said they hoped to make it to the U.S. border before elections are held in November, because they fear that if Donald Trump wins, he will follow through on a promise to close the border to asylum-seekers.

#4 Hunter Biden Drops Lawsuit Against Fox News Over 'Mock Trial' Miniseries - Reuters
Hunter Biden has dropped a lawsuit against Fox News for publishing nude photos and videos of him in a fictionalized "mock trial" show focused on his foreign dealings, according to a court filing by his lawyers on Sunday.
The filing did not give a reason for the voluntary dismissal of the suit. ABC News reported that Hunter, who is the son of President Joe Biden, dropped the suit with the intention of refiling it against new defendants, citing a person familiar with the younger Biden's legal strategy.

#3 DHS Officials Defend Women In Law Enforcement After Trump Assassination Attempt - Tyler Durden, ZeroHedge
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, alongside other senior officials and agency leaders, have issued a joint statement firmly defending female Secret Service agents during the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Besides Mr. Mayorkas, the statement was endorsed by 10 other senior Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials, including Kimberly Cheatle, director of the U.S. Secret Service, who will appear Monday on Capitol Hill to answer questions about the assassination attempt.

#2 RFK Jr: DNC Trying to 'Rig' Nominating Process to Get 'Monumentally Unpopular' Kamala Harris as Nominee - Paul Bois, Breitbart
Independent third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has accused the Democratic National Committee (DNC) of trying to rig the election in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris now that President Joe Biden has dropped out. As Breitbart News reported Sunday, Joe Biden issued a history-making decision unseen since Democrat Lyndon Baines Johnson refused to seek reelection in 1968. “Instead of anointing a candidate hand-picked by DNC elites, the party should use neutral polling to identify the candidate who can best beat Donald Trump. The delegates should then select a nominee based on this information. If they had done this to begin with, I would not have had to leave the Democratic Party,” he [Kennedy] said. When Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his run for president, the Democrats did not allow any debates between the two candidates as Biden swept through the primary.

#1 Biden is Ending his Campaign. What Happens Next? - Alex Woodward, Independent
The president’s announcement of the end of his re-election campaign and his endorsement of Harris on July 21 has rallied other prominent Democratic officials to her candidacy. Before she announced her candidacy, she drew the immediate support of Bill and Hillary Clinton and key members of Congress, including the influential Congressional Black Caucus. Hours later, Harris herself announced she would be seeking the nomination. Roughly 4,000 Democratic delegates out of 4,700 have pledged to support Biden after he effectively swept primary elections, which was expected for a sitting president, though he faced long-shot challenges from a handful of Democratic campaigns and an “uncommitted” protest vote against his support for Israel’s war in Gaza in the hopes of demanding US support for a ceasefire. Under convention rules, those already-pledged Biden delegates are now effectively free agents who are not formally obligated to support Harris.
