#10 State of Texas, UT Professors Win Injunction in Title IX Case Challenging 'Gender Identity' Rules - Kim Roberts for The Texan, and Texas Values on X

The State of Texas along with two professors from the University of Texas at Austin prevailed in obtaining a preliminary injunction against the Biden administration’s revised Title IX rules that would protect “gender identity.” On Friday, July 11, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk in Amarillo granted the state’s request in part.  “The Final Rule inverts the text, history, and tradition of Title IX: the statute protects women in spaces historically reserved to men; the Final Rule inserts men into spaces reserved to women,” Kacsmaryk wrote. His ruling enjoined the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) from “implementing, enacting, enforcing, or taking any action in any manner to enforce” the new rule, which is scheduled to take effect on August 1. The injunction applies to the State of Texas and the two professors who joined the lawsuit, Daniel A. Bonevac and John Hatfield...

#9 Many Substances Used for Food Processing Are Never Listed on Ingredient Labels - Flora Zhao for Epoch Health, and Epoch Times on X

The long list of unfamiliar names on ingredient labels of processed foods is already a cause for concern. However, many people are unaware of another category of additives never listed on these labels. These “invisible” additives are known as processing aids. Processing aids serve various roles in food production. They can soak and wash ingredients, filter beverages like wine or juice to make them clearer, or improve the texture of bread to make it softer and more elastic. During the production process, these aids are consumed, transformed, or removed, rendering them virtually undetectable in the final product...

The second phase of the National Rifle Association (NRA)’s corruption trial in New York, where a judge will determine whether ex-leadership should face any nonmonetary penalties for misspending the prominent gun rights organization’s money, is set to begin Monday. Earlier this year, a jury found longtime NRA head Wayne LaPierre squandered millions of dollars of the organization’s money to fund his lavish lifestyle. He was ordered to pay the organization $4.35 million in damages...

#7 Clean Energy Tax Credits Largely Go to High-Income Tax Filers, New Report Shows - Nancy Vu for Washington Examiner, and RedState on X

Clean energy tax credits have largely benefited higher-income tax filers, according to a new report by economists, illustrating a major pitfall for the Biden administration in its efforts to lower emissions through subsidies. The top quintile of households by income received 60% of $47 billion in clean energy tax credits claimed from 2006 to 2021, according to the paper, which was done by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, and circulated Monday by the National Bureau of Economic Research. The tax credits were awarded for buying heat pumps, solar panels, electric vehicles, and other clean energy technologies...

#5 Pentagon Struggling To Determine Which Troop Families Should Fall Under Gold Star Status - Jake Smith for The Daily Caller, and Stripes.com on X

The Pentagon is grappling with how to determine which families of fallen troops fall under the “Gold Star” status. To formally receive the Gold Star classification, a family’s relative serving in the U.S. military has to have died or been killed during a combat operation. But some families whose relatives died in non-combat incidents are urging the Pentagon to declare them Gold Star families as well, and the Pentagon has been weighing expanding the scope of the title to include them — but hasn’t made any final determinations, The Washington Post reported on Monday...

#4 Deep State Diaries: Biden's DHS Targets Conservatives, Shreds Constitution Once Again - Wendi Strauch Mahoney for UncoverDC
America First Legal released its entire trove of documents (80 pages) obtained through litigation following a legal win in May against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). AFL's lawsuit was filed on behalf of former Ambassador Rick Grenell against the "Homeland Intelligence Experts Group (HIEG)." AFL released all six installments of its #DeepStateDiaries, a multi-part series of releases exposing the highly politicized Brennan-Clapper Intel Group. One of the more stunning revelations includes a proposal to expand DHS's reach into local communities by "contemplating ways to get teachers and mothers to report their children." Another set of documents showed a proposal for profiling by using tags to identify people in the military or religious groups who might be "extremists" or terrorists...

Former President Donald Trump chose Sen. JD Vance of Ohio as his running mate on Monday, picking a one-time critic who became a loyal ally and is now the first millennial to join a major-party ticket at a time of deep concern about the advanced age of America’s political leaders. “After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social network as the Republican National Convention got underway in Milwaukee...

The quadrennial event in one of this cycle’s key battleground states takes place not only as Trump leads a party in lockstep behind him but as Democrats roil over President Joe Biden’s viability and if they should replace him as their nominee. It’s also happening as federal officials probe how a gunman was able to open fire from a rooftop near a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania, killing a bystander and critically wounding two others. There will be speeches from Trump, his running mate — Ohio Sen. JD Vance — some of those who ran against him and a number of others both rallying support for their nominee and arguing against the Democrats’ case for the presidency...
