Democrats continue digging their holes deeper. Remember that old cliché? Maybe they’re trying to dig their way to China (to see their pals in the Chinese Communist Party)? This week got off to a bang in that regard with their staged photo op at the Visitor’s Center on Capitol Hill. You know – the one where they all knelt to honor the memory of guy with a rap sheet a mile long. I’m sure the crocodile tears were flowing bigly in this picture:
And to think that these clowns have the gall to accuse the President of staging a photo op at St. John’s Church and using tear gas to clear the way through protesters (a double lie that was debunked by the US Park Police chief, as noted here). The President’s visit to that burned out church was symbolic and just what was needed during the height of the protests. The contrast between the two events is his leadership versus the Democrats’ pandering. Crystal clear!
The Democrats’ hole-digging was started long before these members of Congress got into the act. Democrat mayors and governors have been “taking the knee” to Antifa and other riffraff in solidarity with the rioters for over a week now. And now they have escalated the rhetoric to, in some cases, make common cause with those demanding to “defund the police” – the latest leftist sloganeering. None of the elected officials kneeling, or clamoring to defund the police, or supporting the Democrats latest leftwing grab-bag legislation in the House (the “Justice in Policing Act”) can ever claim to be “for law and order” ever again. They are opening the door to lawlessness in the streets, which would then lead to anarchy and chaos in the cities. The notion that they are “for public safety and law and order” is absurd on its face.
[Note: there is potentially a silver lining in the Democrats’ kneeling photo op on Capitol Hill, though. Nancy Pelosi had kept the House out of session for the last 30 days, but now, it looks like they’re back. That could signal an end to the Antifa/BLM riots, at least in Washington, DC.]
President Trump, on the other hand, stepped into the breach by offering US military support to put down the coordinated violent protests across the country. The contrast between the President and the Democrat governors and mayors could not be clearer. The President made the offer of military support while publicly chastising largely Democrat governors and mayors for their weak response and failure to uphold public safety laws, etc. Once again, crystal clear!
As predicted, the Democrat-media complex spun up like they always do in response to the harsh criticism. They simply can’t help themselves whenever President Trump makes just about any public statement on any issue, and his tweets are analogous to dog whistles in capturing their undivided attention. Their complaints in the media kept the issue alive in the mind’s eye of the public, providing just the contrast between the governors and himself that the President intended.
The Democrats’ political calculus is faulty on this issue because most Americans are appalled at the unchecked carnage and lawlessness, as well as the destruction of businesses and loss of life at the hands of the violent rioters and looters. They stupidly facilitate the political contrast between Trump (strict law and order) versus Democrats mayors/governors and now Democrat members of Congress (weak, politically aligned with criminals and terrorists, don't care about their own local businesses and citizens). It is amazing to watch – and crystal clear once again!
Then, the media trumpeted that Defense Secretary Esper announced that he didn't agree with the President’s threat to invoke the Insurrection Act in order to use military forces to quell the riots and looting. Never mind that the Insurrection Act has been used to deploy military forces in the past, including during the “Rodney King riots” in 1992. The Democrat-media complex fell into the trap once again, as there is a big difference between saying and doing, too. Staging active duty elements near DC and making the offer/threat to deploy them was once again a big contrast with, for example, Democrat DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s lackadaisical response to the rioting in her own city.
The availability of military backup was there for other states and cities, too, just as offered by the President. All the Democrat governors and mayors needed to do was ask, but of course they didn’t. Meanwhile, their cities burned, property and businesses were destroyed, and they made common cause with the protesters by kneeling and encouraging their own police forces to kneel to the mobs, too. Not good optics for them!
Even now there are some black leaders calling for a return to law and order, as reported here, because they realize it is people and businesses from the black communities in these cities who are getting burned out and looted (including in many cases by a lot of white liberal Antifa clowns). A little left-on-left civil war is a good thing to see!
President Trump is above it all with that great symbolic visit to St. John's Church, about which the Democrat-media complex are still lying, and the offer/threat to deploy the US military if necessary. There was absolutely no tear gas was used, as also confirmed by the SECDEF. Yet, Democrat politicians are still lying about it, including a despicable comment by Amy Klobuchar about the “President using tear gas on protesters” during the Senate Judiciary Committee’s interrogation of Rod Rosenstein last week.

With polls now showing that Americans want the looting and carnage stopped, the Democrat-media narrative has now shifted to “systemic racism” as a root cause for the riots and a demand to “defund the police.” However, the only “systemic” aspect of the problem is the complete Democrat political hegemony and the failed liberal policies over the decades in our large cities and Democrat-run states. These riots are in Democrat-controlled cities – in black neighborhoods in particular! And those neighborhoods have borne the brunt of cockamamie leftwing socio-economic schemes for years. As for defunding the police, those calling for that action need to face situations in which they themselves need the police but law enforcement resources are not available. Perhaps their attitudes about defunding the police might change a bit.
The liberal governance model has failed everywhere it’s been tried, as reported in this great and prescient 2019 article at City Journal, which exposes how the Left’s governance model was tried and failed in city after city across the nation over the decades. Here is the kicker from that article:
The breakdown in public order in some progressive cities is not yet as widespread as it became 50 years ago. But the attitudes and policies that have brought on these troubles are spreading locally and nationally, a stark example of forgetting the lessons of the past. We shouldn’t condemn a new generation to relearning those lessons.
Remember, that article was written in 2019. After observing the “George Floyd riots” over the past two weeks, one could easily argue that the breakdown in public order is nearly complete! Just as the Democrats, Antifa, and BLM intended.
The Democrat governance model for cities is based on political patronage, and those who are part of the system are the ones who benefit, not average citizens. Joining the Democrat Party at the local level is like paying off the Mob. The Democrat politicians get their bribe money (campaign contributions), expansive and vague public campaign promises are made to “fix the problems,” and public money is then funneled into crony businesses without any resolution to the real problems. Wash, rinse, repeat – for the last 60 years in some cases! How is that working for the black communities who have been on fire during these riots?

The political trend is good-to-excellent for President Trump, especially when it is now dawning on a lot of sensible people that the draconian state shutdowns to "control the virus" were a charade that was aimed at shutting down the US economy and defeating President Trump. The arbitrary decisions by the likes of the crackpot Governor Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan and other Democrat governors have exposed the Democrats as the anti-American totalitarians-in-waiting that they've always been. Their virus gambit isn’t working out for them politically, as Americans everywhere are clamoring to get back to work while watching Democrat governors keeping the clamps on their state economies.
The absence of any condemnation of the violent riots, destruction and looting of businesses, and attacks on innocent people by Democrats is a clear indication that Democrat political hopes are aligned with Antifa and BLM. They are transparent! Do the Democrats actually believe that those Antifa/BLM rioters will show up and vote in November, or that they will have persuaded Americans to do the equivalent of “bending the knee” and voting Democrat? I like President Trump’s odds despite what the fake media polls are reporting (shades of the 2016 polling!).
Now, it looks like the Democrats et al are pulling the funding from Antifa because the polls are disastrous for them. Some 80% of Americans believe that the country is out of control. The correct interpretation is that Americans are more than ready for a return to law and order, not more riots. That could be why the Democrat staged that ridiculous knee-bending photo op on Capitol Hill in order to regain the political momentum. That’s yet another Democrat miscalculation, because most of us are horrified at all the knee-bending to the mob. When the Democrats figure that out, watch the riots fizzle into nothingness as the funding rug gets pulled out from under the paid Antifa organizers and thugs, but don’t forget what happened!
Democrats and Antifa/BLM are two sides of the same coin. They have the same political objective, which is the defeat of President Trump. Neither group has the best interests of Americans and our constitutional Republic in mind, as we have learned by watching their antics. Remember in November!
