Democrats vowed to put a halt to the new data centers cropping up across the country that are fueling the artificial intelligence boom. Now, after the midterms, Wall Street is finally taking them at their word — and President Donald Trump is pointing fingers. A violent sell-off ripped through the U.S. stock market on Thursday, as traders began to reckon with the scale of Democrats’ plans for the AI buildout. The S&P 500 plunged more than 4%. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index fell 5.5%. The market’s so-called fear gauge, the Cboe Volatility Index, spiked nearly 70% in a reflection of traders’ concern about further whipsawing. And the selling continued when Asian markets opened...

The first lady lamented to Trump that people she knew were being deported in his sweeping anti-immigration campaign, according to The Wall Street Journal. It follows the outlet’s reporting in March that Melania was part of a group of advisers who warned Trump that his immigration policies had crossed a line as tensions flared in Minnesota during raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Trump and the Republicans suffered a bruising midterm election defeat after the American people delivered a referendum on the first two years of his second term...

Caroline Sunshine, a former staffer to President Trump, on Wednesday called for White House chief of staff Susie Wiles to resign over the massive losses Republicans saw in the midterm elections. Sunshine told Fox News’s Jesse Watters on “Jesse Watters Primetime” that she was going to say “what a lot of people are saying privately.” “Susie Wiles needs to resign,” she told Watters, causing the host to raise his eyebrows. “She needs to offer her resignation to the president before he has to ask for it. Her campaign skills have not translated into governing. Susie was behind the historic win in 2024, and she deserved credit for it and got the top job for it.” The former Trump staffer added that Wiles was now “behind the historic loss where we lost Mississippi and have lost potentially the Senate for six years, and so that cuts both ways.”

A federal judge blocked construction of President Trump's arch, stopping work the administration had hoped to begin immediately. Just before midnight Friday, District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan issued an order — finalized and made public minutes later - barring the government from any construction work for 14 days, granting a request filed days earlier by the governments of D.C. and Virginia. She laid out her reasoning in a 33-page opinion, in which she scrutinized the administration's competing justifications for the arch — particularly its sudden emphasis on national security — and agreed that the local governments are likely to be harmed by its construction. The 250-foot arch would stand in Memorial Circle, a traffic island on the bridge linking the Lincoln Memorial to Arlington National Cemetery...
