Viewers of the Los Angeles mayoral debate overwhelmingly think Spencer Pratt won after his fiery performance against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and socialist Councilmember Nithya Raman. An online poll from NBC Los Angeles showed that as of Thursday morning, 89% of voters picked Pratt when asked who they thought emerged victorious from the Wednesday night showdown.  During the debate, the former reality TV star and Palisades Fire victim channeled months of frustration with the city and the state into an effective argument for his campaign, viewers said. #2 New York Times Staff Launch Witch Hunt to Identify Editor Who Triggered Federal Probe Into Paper After Claiming He Was Passed Over for Promotion for Being White - Alex Hammer for Daily Mail, VA Lawyers Weekly, Dee Knight, Leslie Farber, The Megyn Kelly Show, and Elisa Abby on X

New York Times reporters are desperately trying to identify a fellow employee who triggered a lawsuit from the Trump administration by claiming the paper discriminated against him because he is a white male. The lawsuit filed by The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Tuesday claims the Times passed over the unnamed plaintiff for a promotion and instead opted for a less qualified multiracial woman. One reporter told New York Magazine's Intelligencer: 'This has been kind of a shitshow behind the scenes - people trying to figure out who the aggrieved person is.'  'You’re giving the Trump administration a weapon while they’re trying to persecute journalists,' another said. 'This person now has job security for good after this suit. What a mess,' one staffer said...

#3 No Warrant Required: Eyes Everywhere in Surveillance America - Tracy Beanz and Michelle Edwards for The HighWire, Norberts, Sihegee USA / Social/The Cradle, Police the Police 2.0/P for Patience, DangIt *Not a joke PLEASE don't follow me, thx., and Cybernews on X
We are being watched. Most of us know it on some level, the way we sense a room has cameras before we spot them. What we tend to underestimate—badly—is just how many systems are running simultaneously, how much they already know, and how little any of it requires our permission. A thread posted to X recently laid out one small but jarring piece of the puzzle: our homes are photographed and publicly visible on at least five websites right now. Google Maps. Apple Maps. Bing Maps. Zillow. Redfin. Front door, driveway, windows, side gates, cars in the driveway—all of it, visible to anyone on earth in about ten seconds. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that criminals use Google Street View to case neighborhoods without ever leaving their homes. They can identify entry points, assess whether anyone is around, and clock what vehicles are parked where—all before setting foot on our streets. Even Apple CEO Tim Cook had his home blurred from Street View after a stalking incident. If it warranted action for him, it warrants a thought from the rest of us...

Democrats on a Minnesota House committee refused to support a subpoena targeting U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar after Republicans accused her of ignoring repeated requests for documents and testimony tied to the Feeding Our Future fraud investigation. The House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee voted Tuesday on whether to compel Omar, a Democrat, to provide records connected to the investigation. The motion failed after all five Republicans voted in favor, but three DFL members opposed it. Six votes were required. Rep. Kristin Robbins, R-Maple Grove and the committee chair, said lawmakers had repeatedly asked Omar to testify and provide documents connected to trial exhibits in the federal Feeding Our Future case...

French prosecutors are summoning Elon Musk to the French capital again—this time to face preliminary criminal charges in a sprawling investigation into his social-media platform, X. The new summons, just weeks after Musk didn’t show up for a voluntary interview with French prosecutors, escalates a trans-Atlantic feud over France’s handling of its long-running probe of X. It also underscores a growing divergence between the U.S. and Europe over how—and whether—tech platforms like X should police online speech...

#6 Desantis Signs Bill Aimed at Regulating Florida Data Centers -  Kylie Williams for E&E News by Politico, Eric Daugherty, Ron DeSantis/Bloomberg, Derrick Evans, Fox 13 Tampa Bay,  and Health Ranger on X

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Thursday that would put new requirements on large data centers in Florida, a move he said would protect ratepayers from “footing the bill” for data center development. Under the bill, public utilities must require data centers to pay their own service costs and prevent those costs from being shifted to ratepayers. The bill targets data centers and other large load customers that have an anticipated monthly peak load of 50 megawatts or more. DeSantis, who has cemented himself as a sharp critic of artificial intelligence, acknowledged widespread concerns that data centers guzzle water and can raise electricity prices at a press conference at Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland...

The conversation delves into the economic impacts of global conflicts, the manipulation of public markets, and the challenges of representing constituents in a system Massie describes as rigged against the average American. Ultimately, the episode serves as a rallying cry for political accountability and a defense of constitutional principles in a rapidly changing world.

Rollins told "Finnerty" she could not understand opposition to restricting taxpayer-funded purchases of soda through SNAP, formerly known as food stamps.
