#1 House Passes Farm Bill Without Controversial Pesticides Provision - Mary Walrath-Holdridge and Zachary Schermele for USA TODAY, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, Anna Matson, The HighWire, Congressman Greg Steube, Doc Strangelove,  and Thomas Massie on X

A contentious pesticide provision that was removed from a government funding bill in January has again been stripped from proposed legislation at the behest of President Donald Trump's own "Make America Healthy Again" movement. The House of Representatives passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, known colloquially as the "farm bill," on April 30, the first time such extensive agriculture legislation could become law since Trump's first presidency. Passed with a 224-200 vote, the bill now goes to the Senate, where lawmakers both across and within party lines have butted heads on several provisions of the legislation. One of the largest sticking points of the bill was what critics called a "loophole" that protected pesticide companies like Bayer, which has contended with many lawsuits alleging that its Roundup herbicide products, which contain the chemical glyphosate, cause cancer...

#2 Congress Extends Controversial Spy Law for 45 Days After Senate Rejects House Bill - Fox News, Thomas Massie, Justin Amash, The Redheaded Libertarian/The General, and It's Tiff on X

Congress punted a long-term fix for a controversial spy law for the second time in a month as lawmakers raced to avoid a lapse in the government's warrantless surveillance powers set to expire Friday at midnight. Both chambers approved a 45-day extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) before leaving Washington on Thursday, allowing lawmakers more time to negotiate reforms to the hotly contested program. President Donald Trump, who wants a clean extension of the surveillance program, is expected to sign the measure into law...

#3 Trump Withdraws Nomination of Casey Means for Surgeon General -  Sheryl Gay Stolberg and Dani Blum for The New York Times, Secretary Kennedy/Rapid Response 47, Frank Stassen, Nancy Willing, Elena, and LiveHeaven/Eric Daugherty on X

President Trump has withdrawn the nomination of Dr. Casey Means, his pick for surgeon general, whose confirmation was stalled amid opposition, including from some Republicans, over her views on vaccines and her unconventional approach to medicine. In a social media post on Thursday, Mr. Trump announced a new nominee: Dr. Nicole B. Saphier, a radiologist who has a wellness podcast and has appeared frequently on Fox News. She is the director of breast imaging at MSK Monmouth in New Jersey, a branch of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan. Mr. Trump described Dr. Saphier as “a STAR physician who has spent her career guiding women facing breast cancer” and “an INCREDIBLE COMMUNICATOR, who makes complicated health issues more easily understood by all Americans.” Unlike Dr. Means, Dr. Saphier, 44, does not appear to be a heroine in Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Make America Healthy Again movement, whose leaders view her as too conventional. She has praised vaccines as lifesaving and, at times, criticized Mr. Kennedy as an ineffective messenger. She has also been critical of Dr. Means...

#4 President Trump Nominates Dr. Nicole Saphier as US Surgeon General - Swapna Venugopal Ramaswamy for USA TODAY, Secretary Kennedy/Rapid Response 47, Nick Sortor, Anna Lulis, SaltyGoat, and Sachin Jose on X

President Donald Trump has nominated Dr. Nicole Saphier as the next U.S. surgeon general after the confirmation of his previous pick stalled. Saphier is a breast radiologist who has served as a Fox News contributor since 2018. She is the director of breast imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center-Monmouth and an associate professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, specializing in breast and oncologic imaging. "Nicole is a STAR physician who has spent her career guiding women facing breast cancer through their diagnosis and treatment while tirelessly advocating to increase early cancer detection and prevention, while at the same time working with men and women on all other forms of cancer diagnoses and treatments," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post...

#5 Pressure Builds to Indict Fauci Before May 11 Deadline - Steven Nelson for New York Post, Rand Paul, Rep. Nancy Mace, Mike Benz/Senator Rand Paul, Senator Ron Johnson/David J Harris Jr, Gain of Fauci, and Derrick Evans on X

The indictment of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s former adviser David Morens on Tuesday revived calls for the Justice Department to prosecute Fauci himself for allegedly lying to Congress about funding risky research in China before the COVID-19 pandemic. Just two weeks remain before the five-year legal deadline on May 11 to indict Fauci for denying under oath that he funded “gain of function” experiments that modified bat coronaviruses in the same city where the pandemic started. Morens, 78, was charged with one count of conspiracy, two counts of destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations, and two counts of concealment, removal, or mutilation of records relating to the origins of COVID-19. He faces up to 51 years in prison...

#6 A Texas Court Puts the Brakes on the Alex Jones Infowars Deal - LAST BROADCAST - Bettie Cross for CBS Austin, Alex Jones, Alex Jones Network, Harrison H. Smith, ANTUNES, and Darrin McBreen on X

A Texas appeals court is putting the brakes on the Alex Jones Infowars deal. The acquisition of Infowars by The Onion is on hold until at least May 28. Progress was expected on Thursday as The Onion tried once again to take control of the Infowars platforms. Alex Jones was not in court on Thursday, but he is continuing to fight the sale of Infowars to The Onion. The plan by The Onion is to turn the platforms into comedy sites spoofing conspiracy theorists. The deal was set to be discussed in front of Travis County Judge Maya Guerra Gamble in the 459th Civil District Court. The hearing was put on hold after a whirlwind day that saw the Texas Third Court of Appeals pause the Infowars deal and send the case back to the trial court. The families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims then asked the Texas Supreme Court for emergency relief so the deal could proceed...

The body of a missing Republican Oklahoma state Senate candidate was found in a truck in a rural area — turning his family’s world “upside down,” his devastated daughter said. Barry Christian, a 54-year-old Trump-supporting candidate for District 38 in western Oklahoma, was discovered dead Thursday after he mysteriously vanished just two days prior, his campaign said in a news release obtained by KOCO. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed to the outlet that Christian’s 2024 charcoal gray Ram truck was found just off Highway 30, south of Erick, with a body inside....

#8 Mysterious Earthquake Swarm Near Area 51 Sparks Conspiracy Theories About Secret Testing - Isabel Keane for Independent, Jim Ferguson, Sarah Fields, Concerned Citizen, Pepe Deluxe, and Next News Network on X

At least 17 earthquakes have been recorded in the vicinity of Nevada’s highly classified Area 51 over the past 24 hours, prompting unfounded conspiracy theories about secret nuclear testing. The swarm of quakes ranged from 2.5 to 4.4 in magnitude and struck within miles of the mysterious military base, famed for conspiracy theories that aliens and UFOs are hidden at the facility. Area 51 is adjacent to the Nevada Test Site, where the U.S. tested nuclear weapons from 1951 to 1992.  The 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck 2.5 miles below ground just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, followed by over a dozen smaller quakes, according to U.S. Geological Survey data. More than 100 people reported feeling the quakes to the USGS...

#9 They’re All Ears: Apple’s Plan to Read Your Mind - Tracy Beanz and Michelle Edwards for The HighWire, Jade Helm Reports, Mr. Nobody, Roy Rogue, and Commentary Barron Trump on X

We’ve handed over our location, our browsing history, our voice, our face, and our purchasing habits. In exchange, we’ve gotten convenience. Now Apple wants the one thing each of us might have thought was still ours—the electrical activity of our brain. And this time, they’re not even asking. What are we talking about here? In January 2023, Apple quietly filed patent US20230225659A1 with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The filing describes a wearable electronic device—an earbud—equipped with multiple electrodes embedded directly into the ear tip and housing. These electrodes aren’t for audio. They are not there to improve our sound quality. No indeed. Instead, they are there to read our brains—using the same EEG technology doctors use to monitor neurological activity in clinical settings...

#10 Trump Unveils Plan for New Retirement Website - Andrew Dorn for The Hill, Rapid Response 47, The White House, Breaking 911, Karoline Leavitt, and Trump War Room on X

President Trump signed an executive order Thursday aimed at expanding access to retirement plans for millions of workers whose employers don’t offer one. The order directs the Treasury Department to create a new website, TrumpIRA.gov, to help workers find and enroll in private-sector Individual Retirement Accounts, or IRAs.  Trump said the effort would give workers access to the same types of retirement accounts available to federal employees through the Thrift Savings Plan. “For millions of Americans who lack employer-sponsored plans, this will be really revolutionary,” Trump said Thursday. The website is set to launch by the start of next year and will allow workers to filter and compare IRAs based on factors such as cost, quality, and investment options...
