Washington State on Monday enacted a tax on income over $1 million, the latest Democratic state to levy a tax aimed squarely at the wealthy. The law, signed by Gov. Bob Ferguson, creates an income tax for top earners beginning in 2028. The 9.9% tax will apply only to income over $1 million, and will be used to fund child care programs, free school meals, tax credits for working families, and tax breaks for small businesses. Until now, Washington hasn’t had any state income tax.

Dern will play Brown, the Miami Herald investigative reporter on the late, disgraced financier’s tail when no one else was, for the first scripted take on the Epstein case. The screenplay will be based on Brown’s 2021 book Perversion of Injustice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story. Sharon Hoffman, a writer on the 2020 limited series Mrs. America, will write the project and serve as co-showrunner with Eileen Myers (The Night Agent, Masters of Sex). McKay, the writer-director of Don’t Look Up and executive producer on the HBO juggernaut Succession, among other credits, will serve as executive producer alongside Dern and Brown...

Palm Beach International Airport, which President Donald Trump flies in and out of when heading to his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida, is likely set to be renamed in his honor. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Monday, renaming it the President Donald J. Trump International Airport. According to a release from DeSantis' office, the governor signed a bill from the legislature related to "Commercial Service Airports." That bill, which passed the Florida House and Senate in February, includes the provision that "'Palm Beach International Airport,' shall be renamed as the 'President Donald J. Trump International Airport,' subject to approval of the Federal Aviation Administration" and, per the bill, rights agreements. The law is set to go into effect on July 1, according to the state legislature...

Barbara, is whether Mr. Trump's directive, issued on his first day back in the White House, comports with the 14th Amendment's Citizenship Clause and federal immigration law. The dispute arrives at the high court as its conservative majority has handed the president several preliminary victories in cases over his immigration policies, allowing some of them to be enforced while legal proceedings continue.
