Dick Cheney, America’s most powerful modern vice president and chief architect of the “war on terror,” who helped lead the country into the ill-fated Iraq war on faulty assumptions, has died, according to a statement from his family. He was 84. “His beloved wife of 61 years, Lynne, his daughters, Liz and Mary, and other family members were with him as he passed,” the family said, adding that he died due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease... President Donald Trump on Monday endorsed former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a lifelong Democrat running as an independent, in New York City's mayoral election. The president urged voters not to cast a ballot Tuesday for Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa, saying it would be “a vote for [Zohran] Mamdani.” “Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. A recent poll from Suffolk University showed Mamdani leading the race with 44% support, with Cuomo trailing behind him by 10 percentage points. Sliwa, meanwhile, sat at 11%... The FBI uncovered a handwritten note by former FBI Director James Comey in which he wrote “HRC plans to tie Trump” and “HRC health” just weeks before Election Day 2016, despite it being tucked away in a long-dormant safe the week of President Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration, new legal filings in the U.S. government’s case against Comey reveal. Comey scrawled the note, included as an exhibit in the legal docket, under an emblem showing that it originated from the FBI director’s desk. The note bears the date Sept. 26, 2016, which was 19 days after Comey received a Sept. 7, 2016, investigative referral regarding a plan by Hillary Clinton’s campaign to tie Donald Trump, her rival in that year’s presidential race, to Russia, as she sought to divert attention from her use of a private email server... In a statement published on Monday, YouTube TV took a swipe at ABC News, outlining why it won't restore the news outlet's stations on its platform for 24 hours. On Monday, Disney sought to thaw weekslong tensions with the Google-owned platform after the two companies failed to negotiate a new contract that would let YouTube TV subscribers watch Disney's television channels. A Disney spokesperson stated that the company requested YouTube to restore ABC for Tuesday's U.S. Election Day. Voters head to the polls for key local contests, including the New York City mayor's election and California's Proposition 50, which decides whether officials can redraw the state's congressional map. "We believe in putting the public interest first and hope YouTube TV will take this small step for their customers while we continue to work toward a fair agreement," Disney said... The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has put four companies on notice for marketing “unapproved fluoride-containing ingestible drugs” for use by children under the age of 3 or children at low or moderate risk of tooth decay. “This Halloween, the FDA is driving a stake through the heart of outdated science and protecting our kids from the risks associated with ingestible fluoride,” Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Tish Hyman, a 42-year-old Bronx native, said her membership to the gym chain was revoked on Sunday following the fracas. Hyman filmed the brief, one-sided shouting match with the unidentified gymgoer, who was dressed in all black and accessorized with a pair of dangling earrings. The person repeatedly asked an irate man, who also stormed over, who he was before Hyman interjected... Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert is facing criticism over a racially insensitive Halloween costume, after she was pictured at a party on Friday dressed in traditional Mexican attire, accompanied by a date dressed as an ICE agent. The MAGA politician was spotted at the party in Loveland, Colorado, wearing a sombrero and holding up a chalkboard sign that read: “Mexican Word of the Day: Juicy. Tell me if juicy ICE coming.” Her boyfriend, real estate broker Kyle Pearcy, was dressed as an ICE operative in camouflage uniform, flack jacket, and baseball cap... The Trump administration is expected to dole out partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, as they were not given at the beginning of the month due to Democrats' refusing to reopen the government more than a dozen times. Roughly 42 million food stamp recipients did not receive their benefits this month due to the ongoing government shutdown – the second-longest in history, reaching 34 days as of Monday. According to reports, the Trump administration plans to dole out partial benefits in the midst of the shutdown, telling a Rhode Island federal judge on Monday that it would “tap billions of dollars in contingency funds to pay 50% of the normal amount of SNAP benefits in November as the U.S. government shutdown persists,” NBC News reported... Far-right activist Laura Loomer has been credentialed to cover the Department of Defense (DOD), according to The Washington Post, marking her entry into a reconstituted Pentagon press corps composed largely of right-wing media outlets. A series of bomb threats has forced polling stations to shut in New Jersey ahead of the elections that will decide the state’s new governor and New York City’s mayor. Authorities said at least two sites in Paterson city were shut down after threats were received, while officials are reviewing emails about further threats, some of which have been exposed as hoaxes. New York has been gripped by one of the most publicized races in its history. Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist, faces former Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo, 67, who is running as an independent.
