#1 Former Trump Adviser John Bolton Criminally Indicted - Ana Faguy and Aoife Walsh for BBC, Derek Bryant, Annie Pistol Packin Oakley, Seth, and FOX 5 NY on X
John Bolton, who served as Donald Trump's national security adviser before becoming a vocal critic of the president, has been criminally indicted on federal charges. The Department of Justice presented a case to a grand jury in Maryland on Thursday, and they agreed there was enough evidence to indict Bolton, who issued a statement maintaining his innocence. It comes after FBI agents searched Bolton's home and office in August as part of an investigation into the handling of classified information. The indictment makes Bolton, 76, the third of the US president's political opponents to face charges in recent weeks. He could face decades in prison... Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani smiled his way through a two-hour debate where Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa tried to land punches on the frontrunner. Few of those hits had much of an impact against Mamdani, who effectively pressed his affordability platform without making any significant mistakes. Cuomo needed a moment that he didn’t get. Mamdani had a largely pain-free night. Here are five takeaways from the first of two general election debates... Asian and European stocks tracked losses on Wall Street on Friday amid fresh credit market fears that compounded worries about trade tensions, a possible tech bubble, and the US government shutdown. After a months-long run-up that has seen some indexes hit multiple records, investors have been sent reeling this week since US President Donald Trump stoked his tariff standoff with China on Friday, sparking tit-for-tat salvos that have broken the calm. Investors have been nervously watching the US banking sector since parts company First Brands and subprime lender Tricolor filed for bankruptcy in September, with the former owing billions to lenders... EMD Serono, the healthcare business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, in the U.S. and Canada, and President Donald J. Trump’s administration, today announced an agreement to expand access to the company’s portfolio of in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapies for the more than 10 million American women struggling to have a baby. As part of the agreement, EMD Serono will offer Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) sales of its complete portfolio of IVF therapies, including Gonal-f® (follitropin alfa injection), Ovidrel® (choriogonadotropin alfa injection), and Cetrotide® (cetrorelix acetate for injection), to eligible patients with prescriptions at significantly reduced prices... President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday that a “very wealthy” donor had offered to pay members of the military during the ongoing government shutdown — a generous offer that he said he turned down for now. “I actually have a man who is a very wealthy person, he said, ‘If there is any money necessary, shortfall for the paying of the troops, I will pay it,’ meaning he will pay it,” Trump said during a meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei at the White House... Organizers of the "No Kings" protests are projecting that millions of Americans will demonstrate against the policies of the Trump administration on Saturday, amid ongoing ICE arrests and the deployment of National Guard troops to several Democratic-run cities around the country."The purpose here is to stand in solidarity, to organize, to defend our democracy and protect each other and our communities, and just say enough is enough," said Lisa Gilbert, co-president of Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy group that is one of the protest organizers. "We've been watching the Trump administration's abuses of power, and millions took to the streets in June," she said. U.S. cattle futures are on track for their largest year-to-date gain since 1978 amid an ongoing beef cow shortage. The shortage has driven prices for feedlot cattle to record highs, with charts resembling those of gold or silver, and pushed USDA ground beef prices at supermarkets to record highs. Although Goldman has noted that the 12-year cattle herd cycle has reached a cyclical low, and Tyson CEO Donnie King recently said herd rebuilding will begin in 2026, prices continue to spiral out of control. That's prompted President Trump to take action - just like he did with eggs earlier this year - and told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday that his administration has reached a deal to lower beef prices... India on Thursday hinted that it was looking to increase its purchases of crude oil and natural gas from the U.S. as it diversifies its energy supplies following criticism from President Donald Trump over its imports of discounted Russian oil. "I was not happy that India was buying oil and [Prime Minister Narendra Modi] assured me today that they will not be buying oil from Russia," President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday. "You know, you can't do it immediately. It's a little bit of a process, but the process is going to be over with soon...

For decades, blood pressure guidelines in the United States have been frequently revised. Each modification has subtly redefined what constitutes hypertension, which, in the United States, is the No. 1 risk factor for heart disease and stroke. As expected, these changes are often presented as evidence-based refinements. But, are they? The most recent revision by the American Heart Association (AHA) noticeably lowers diagnostic thresholds in a way that significantly expands the number of Americans classified as hypertensive...
