The Texas House has approved a Trump-backed redistricting plan projected to give Republicans as many as five additional U.S. House seats in the 2026 midterms, advancing a map that reshapes districts across the state's largest urban centers and South Texas. The measure passed on Wednesday by an 88-52 vote and now moves to the Texas Senate, The Associated Press reported. The proposal, drafted by Republican leaders with input from former President Donald Trump's advisers, redraws several key congressional districts in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and along the Rio Grande Valley, said the Texas Tribune...

#2 California Supreme Court Rejects GOP Effort to Halt Newsom’s Redistricting Push - Zach Schonfeld for The Hill, Chris Micheli, ABC10, Donald Wong, and KTVU on X

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a petition filed by state Republican legislators seeking to halt Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) plan to redistrict California’s congressional map. “Petitioners have failed to meet their burden of establishing a basis for relief at this time under California Constitution article IV, section 8,” reads a brief order posted to the docket.  Newsom has hit back at Republican redistricting efforts in Texas by pushing for a special election this November to get voters’ approval on a more favorable House map for Democrats in California in time for the 2026 midterms.  The ruling paves the way for the California legislature to proceed with voting as soon as Thursday on a package that would set up the special election...

Russia launched 614 air attack munitions into Ukraine overnight into Thursday, the air force in Kyiv reported, in what the country's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called a "massive combined air strike" on targets around the country. The air force said Russia launched 574 drones and 40 missiles in its overnight barrage, of which 546 drones and 31 missiles were intercepted or otherwise suppressed. Impacts were reported across 11 locations, the Air Force said. "Contrary to all efforts to end the war, Russia undertook a massive combined air strike on Ukraine overnight," Sybiha said in a post to X, saying that "civilian and energy infrastructure" were among the targets. "One of the missiles struck a major American electronics manufacturer in our westernmost region, leading to serious damage and casualties," the foreign minister added of the attack in Mukachevo, a city around 16 miles from the border with Hungary and 25 miles from the border with Slovakia...

A federal appeals court ruled in favor of President Trump on Wednesday, allowing his administration to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 60,000 migrants from Honduras, Nicaragua, and Nepal. In a unanimous decision, the three-member panel of judges on the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals halted a lower court order that had blocked the Trump administration from eliminating temporary deportation protections and revoking work permits from the migrants.  “The government’s motion for a stay pending appeal …  is granted,” Circuit Judges Michael Hawkins ( a Bill Clinton appointee), Consuelo Callahan (a George W. Bush appointee,) and Eric Miller (Trump appointee) wrote in their brief, two-page ruling, which did not explain the decision...

U.S. and European officials released a joint statement on Thursday that outlined details of a trade deal, including reduced tariffs on autos that will take effect once Europe eliminates its own tariffs on U.S. goods. It is the only official text of the agreement since Trump announced the deal in Scotland late last month. The text of the statement largely confirms what Trump announced alongside European Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen, including a 15% across-the-board tariff rate for U.S.-bound goods...

#6 Jeanine Pirro Says People Who Carry Rifles, Shotguns in DC Will No Longer Face Felony Charges -  Landon Mion for Fox News, MJ Muehl, George Wells, mobilemarkhtc, TheBarrasReport, and Adora Brass on X

Federal prosecutors in Washington, D.C., will no longer slap people with felony charges for possession of rifles or shotguns in the nation's capital, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro. The change means federal prosecutors will not seek charges under the D.C. law that made it illegal to carry rifles or shotguns in the district, except in limited cases for permit holders. Under the new policy, the U.S. Attorney's Office will continue to bring charges when a person is accused of using a shotgun or rifle in a violent crime or has a criminal record that prohibits them from possessing a firearm. The new policy also covers large-capacity magazines, but it does not include handguns...

#7 Cracker Barrel Logo Change Sparks Fury - Marni Rose McFall for Newsweek, The Princess & The Frog, End Wokeness, Jack Paso, Woke War Room/Mrs B, and Coach Duggs on X

Cracker Barrel has changed its logo for the first time in 48 years—and people are cracking up about it online. The change has prompted backlash, including from conservatives, though many have taken to social media to ridicule the backlash. Newsweek has reached out to Cracker Barrel via an online contact form for comment outside of regular working hours. The Southern country-themed restaurant chain first opened in 1969 and initially had a text-only logo. The name originates from a time in the 19th century when people would socialize around a barrel full of crackers in a country store. In 1977, the logo was updated to the one many will now recognize, with a man resting by a barrel. The restaurant said in a press release that the new logo is "Rooted even more closely to the iconic barrel shape and wordmark that started it all."

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and state Attorney General James Uthmeier held a news conference Wednesday afternoon in Palm Beach County outlining why he believes Florida was undercounted in the 2020 Census. “I remember when the first Trump administration was leaving office in January 2021, I spoke with people at the Commerce Department and they said Florida’s gonna get two additional seats in Congress as a result of that Census which was basically the 2010 through 2020, population growth,” DeSantis said before blaming the Biden administration for only picking up one additional seat...

#9 Peter Navarro: Time to Investigate the FBI Agent Who Tried to Take Down Trump And Me - Peter Navarro for Breitbart, NYNance, Earl Ron Deanne I go by Ron, Elena, Ken Dilanian/Have One, Grateful Soul, and DC_Draino/fan Karoline Leavitt on X
They call Walter Giardina a Marine hero. The media portrayed him as a martyr in FBI Director Kash Patel’s recent “purge” of politicized FBI agents. In my new book, I Went to Prison So You Won’t Have To, I call Giardina something else: the tip of the spear in a weaponized FBI campaign to destroy Donald Trump — and a disgraced FBI agent who personally targeted me and my fiancée. I don’t use “weaponized” lightly. I was there. I lived it. I still feel the cold steel of the handcuffs Giardina and his gaggle of armed agents slapped on me at Reagan National Airport. I will never forget the sight of my fiancée being perp-walked out of that same terminal as part of the circus arrest Giardina staged for maximum humiliation – nor will I forgive Giardina for that...
