It's the outcome Democrats anticipated, and one they plan to gleefully cite as President Trump continues to grapple with the MAGA fallout over the DOJ's handling of the documents. "The question with Epstein is: Whose side are you on?" Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), the author of the Epstein measure, told Axios ahead of the vote. "Are you on the side of the rich and powerful, or are you on the side of the people?" he said, promising to introduce the amendment "again and again and again."

The Department of Justice on Monday urged the Supreme Court to turn away an appeal from Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring with and aiding Epstein in his sexual abuse of underage girls. Maxwell, 63, had urged the court earlier this year to review her case, arguing that an unusual co-conspirator's clause in Epstein's 2007 non-prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors in Florida barred her subsequent prosecution in New York. A district court and a federal appeals court previously rejected that argument, and the DOJ today urged the high court to do the same...

The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to move ahead with plans to carry out mass layoffs at the Department of Education that were blocked by a federal judge. The conservative-majority court, without any explanation, granted an emergency application from the administration that blocks the federal judge's ruling. The court's three liberal members objected, with Justice Sonia Sotomayor writing a blistering dissenting opinion. "When the Executive publicly announces its intent to break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the Judiciary’s duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it," she wrote...

Democratic Congressman Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-CA) is under fire for allegedly putting an ICE employee’s safety at risk by sharing their business card with a violent mob during last week's cannabis farm raids. The reckless act led to the ICE officer being targeted and injured by rocks thrown by the hostile crowd. According to Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE), Carbajal joined a violent mob that tried to block federal law enforcement during a raid on a California marijuana facility. While Carbajal called the protests “peaceful,” the agency argued that the protestors were throwing rocks and injuring at least one ICE officer. They also claimed that Carbajal doxed an officer by sharing his business card with the crowd. ICE warned that such actions and rhetoric have contributed to a sharp rise in attacks on officers and accused Carbajal of prioritizing violence over law and order...

The FBI's decision to open a probe that treats the last decade of political weaponization of law enforcement and intelligence agencies as an ongoing criminal conspiracy is being cheered by lawmakers and could be aided by Director Kash Patel's recent discovery of a room where the bureau had "hidden" evidence from public and congressional view. Patel's discovery of the evidence "vault" or "lockbox" as he called it on a recent interview with podcaster Joe Rogan and the opening of the "overarching conspiracy" probe occurred around the same time this spring, officials told Just the News. The discovery that the FBI stashed away evidence in politically hot probes like Russigate could help prosecutors convince a grand jury that government officials were engaged in a cover-up or an effort to deprive civil liberties, experts said...
