#10 Trump Sets 25% Tariffs on Japan and South Korea, and New Import Taxes on 12 Other Nations - Josh Boak for AP News, AM800 CKLW, Tracie Murray, WWay News, rosa7multiflora, RTIwala

President Donald Trump on Monday set a 25% tax on goods imported from Japan and South Korea, as well as new tariff rates on a dozen other nations that would go into effect on Aug. 1. Trump provided notice by posting letters on Truth Social that were addressed to the leaders of the various countries. The letters warned them to not retaliate by increasing their own import taxes, or else the Trump administration would further increase tariffs. “If for any reason you decide to raise your Tariffs, then, whatever the number you choose to raise them by, will be added onto the 25% that we charge,” Trump wrote in the letters to Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung...

#9 Trump Says He’ll Send New Weapons to Ukraine - Kevin Liptak for CNN, Jim Plannette, Richard Burrill, bilyholiday, Dr George Christos, Heather Kropf, and Hodgetwins on X

President Donald Trump said Monday he plans to send additional defensive weapons to Ukraine after his administration paused certain shipments last week. “We’re going to send some more weapons. We have to – they have to be able to defend themselves,” Trump said ahead of a dinner with his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu. “They’re getting hit very hard. We’re going to have to send more weapons,” Trump added. “Defensive weapons, primarily, but they’re getting hit very, very hard.” The president’s latest remarks come after a senior White House official told CNN last week the Trump administration was pausing some weapons shipments to Ukraine, including air defense missiles. The decision came after a review of military spending and American support to foreign countries that was signed off by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly said at the time that the decision was made “to put America’s interests first.”

"The president has an extraordinary team, and I think our teams, together, make, an extraordinary combination to meet challenges and seize opportunities...

#7 Los Angeles Mayor Slams “Outrageous and Un-American” Federal Immigration Enforcement Sweep Through Macarthur Park - Austin Turner for CBS News, David Cloud, Mike Man/Mayor Karen Bass, NATASHA GASCON/L.A. TACO, Christina Pushaw/Bill Melugin, and Wall Street Apes on X

A visibly angry Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Monday blasted the Trump administration's continued immigration enforcement push throughout the city as ICE confirmed a "large-scale" operation near downtown. Bass said she was on her way to a news conference with Gov. Gavin Newsom in Pasadena when she was alerted to an immigration enforcement operation at MacArthur Park in L.A.'s Westlake District. She directed her driver to turn around and head toward the park, where she demanded that the operation end. "To me, this is another example of the administration ratcheting up chaos by deploying what looked like a military operation in an American city," Bass said. "You can spin it anyway you like, but in my opinion, it's a political agenda of provoking fear and terror."

#6 MAGA Turns on Donald Trump Over Lack of Jeffrey Epstein List - Jordan King for Newsweek, Grace Chong MBI/Steve Bannon, Wall Street Apes, Alex Jones, Real Robert, LIZZIE, JOSH DUNLAP, and Natalie F Danielishen on X

MAGA supporters have criticized President Donald Trump following a review by the FBI and Department of Justice that found "no incriminating 'client list'" related to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump received major pushback when he praised FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino in a post on Truth Social. Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting further sex trafficking charges. The financier was known to host high-profile guests on his private island of Little St. James in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where authorities say many of his crimes occurred. Rumors of an Epstein "client list" have long circulated online, and during his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump suggested that if voters returned him to the White House, he might release a list of individuals associated with Epstein...

President Trump praised FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino for going “back to the basics” in a Truth Social post, as the two men have come under fire from right-wing influencers over a report disproving several conspiracy theories about disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. “We have the Greatest Law Enforcement professionals in the World, but ‘Politics’ and Corrupt Leadership often prevented them from doing their job. That is no longer the case, and now, they have been unleashed to do their jobs, and they are doing just that,” Trump wrote alongside an article from a conservative outlet claiming the United States is on track for its lowest murder rate ever...

#4 Some Former Texas County Officials Thought Informal Phone Calls, Not Sirens, Would Be Sufficient in a Flood - ABC News, New York Post, Mike Baker, Shelia brandenburg, Sig, Brian New, and Ryan Merket on X

Over the years that the Kerr County Commission spent discussing whether to implement a new flood warning system, some commissioners suggested that sticking with "river calling," an informal phone chain of sorts used by summer camps, would be better than installing new flood sirens, flashing lights, or signs. "The camps have had a very good system -- if there's a rise, they're phoning their competitors or colleagues down river and letting them know what happened," said commissioner Kerr County Commissioner Bob Reeves, according to minutes of a 2016 meeting, nearly a decade before devastating floods left at least 100 dead over this past weekend. "It's informal as you said, but it's been a very good system." "They notify each other, we notify them, they notify, there's a lot of informal things that really do work real well," said former Kerr County Sheriff W.R. Hierholzer said at the time, although he noted the river can "come up in an instant."

#3 Planned Ambush at Texas Ice Facility Leaves Officer Shot, as 10 Charged With Attempted Murder, Authorities Say -  Louis Casiano and Fox News, End Wokeness, Nick Sortor, Andy Ngo, The Vigilant Fox, and National Police Association on X

The shooting of a Texas police officer near a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility and the firing of shots at federal officers over the weekend was a "planned ambush" on the building, resulting in 11 people being charged, authorities said Monday.  An Alvarado, Texas, police officer was shot Friday night near the Prairieland Detention Facility, authorities said. "This was an egregious attack on federal and local law enforcement officers, and it is part of an increasing trend of violence against them," said Nancy Larson, acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas...

#2 Charlie Kirk Responds to Trump’s Remarks on Farm and Hotel Workers: “If You Want to Break Our Coalition, Go and Push Amnesty” - Media Matters Staff, Eric Daugherty, Right Angle News Network/Mike Engleman, Bill Mitchell, Lauren Witzke, and Jesse Kelly on X
CHARLIE KIRK:  President Donald Trump was talking about potentially doing a bipartisan compromise deal for illegals that have stolen Social Security numbers, that are illegally domiciling themselves here in the country, that are all felons. Every single one of them are felons. They're just not yet indicted felons. But if they're here illegally, you're a felon. It's against federal law. We've gone through all the different federal laws that you break by being here. And this is President Donald Trump speaking at the Iowa rally, saying that we might need to do some form, he didn't use the word amnesty, but some form of soft amnesty. And I could tell you now through other reporting that I've been able to do and phone calls, there is a major push right now to do a bipartisan amnesty deal, a major push. People are trying to push the president. Hey, you got the money for ICE. Now we need to go move to the middle on immigration...

#1 Desantis Offers Musk His Own Political Advice Amid Trump Feud - Gary Fineout for Politico, BPR based, MJ Muehl, Emperor DeSantis, Joseph Newburn, The Laureate, Grok, Amy McCutcheon/Dustin Grage, Florida's Voice/John Birch Society

Gov. Ron DeSantis has a message for Elon Musk: Forget starting a new party. Instead, Florida’s GOP leader said Musk should either primary Republicans or help pass constitutional amendments dealing with term limits and a balanced budget. DeSantis, who began his ill-fated presidential campaign alongside Musk in a glitch-marred event on X, offered up his suggestions Monday about the billionaire entrepreneur’s plan to start a third party to challenge Republicans and Democrats. Musk announced he was launching the “America Party” this past weekend. “I think Washington needs to be overhauled 100 percent, but I just don’t think a third party is going to do it,” DeSantis said following an education-related press conference in Jacksonville.  DeSantis, who offered up his commentary with no prodding or questioning from reporters, praised Musk for his past efforts, including helping Republicans in 2024 and his bid to curb government spending. But he said creating a third party would likely just end with Democrats winning elections. “I’m a Republican. I don’t want to see that happen,” DeSantis said...
