#10 Congress Passes Trump’s Sweeping Domestic Policy Bill - CNN, Bob Hafer, Globe News Wire, Esperanza Walker, Sollencia, ECIU, and The Watchdog on X

President Donald Trump celebrated the passage of his domestic agenda bill on stage in Des Moines, Iowa, as a “phenomenal victory” for the US, touting its tax cuts and funding for border security. “There could be no better birthday present for America than the phenomenal victory we achieved just hours ago when Congress passed the ‘one big, beautiful bill’ to ‘Make America Great Again,’” Trump said at the Iowa State Fairgrounds tonight.  “Every major promise I made to the people of Iowa in 2024 became a promise kept,” he said. Trump railed against Democrats who unanimously voted against his policy agenda, suggesting Republicans could use that against them in the 2026 midterms.

#9 Here’s What’s in Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” Passed by Congress - Kaia Hubbard and Caitlin Yilek for CBS News, ExMasturbator Saved by Jesus/Dr. Afua Nicki, Ellen/Min, Ross Vaughan, DJMT, Judi Lewis, NBC 26 News, and Mountain Majesty/Dumpling on X

The House passed a massive spending and tax bill that includes signature policies of President Trump's second-term agenda on Thursday, sending the so-called "big, beautiful bill" to the president's desk ahead of a July 4 deadline. The House approved the bill in a 218 to 214 vote Thursday, after the Senate narrowly approved the bill Tuesday in a 51-50 vote that required Vice President JD Vance to break a tie. At the center, the "big, beautiful bill" is an extension of Mr. Trump's 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which was slated to sunset at the end of the year. The legislation would make most of the tax cuts permanent, while increasing spending for border security, defense, and energy production.  The bill is partially paid for by significant cuts to health care and nutrition programs, like Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill would add $3.4 trillion to federal deficits over the next 10 years and leave millions without health insurance. Republicans and the White House dispute those forecasts...

#8 Which Republicans Voted Against Trump’s Megabill? - Miriam Waldvogel for The Hill, WETM-TV, USA Channel, Newsweek, Fox 5 DC, and Nobody See Me on X

Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) were the only two Republicans to buck their party as the House pushed the “big, beautiful bill” through Thursday after more than 24 hours in session. Massie was one of the earliest GOP voices against the bill and rallied against the measure all week. He had already earned a potential primary challenge backed by President Trump over his opposition to American airstrikes in Iran. Other GOP lawmakers, many of them members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, initially opposed the bill overnight because of its additions to the deficit...

#7 Trump Megabill Gives the Oil Industry Everything It Wants and Ends Key Support for Solar and Wind - Spencer Kimball for CNBC, macroymercados, Onliesteverwho, Mineral Vault, Invest Wise, Shelli Martin, and Tom for Texas on X

President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act ends long-standing federal support for solar and wind power, while creating a friendly environment for oil, gas, and coal production. The House of Representatives passed Trump’s megabill Thursday ahead of a White House-imposed deadline, after the Senate narrowly approved the controversial legislation Tuesday.  Trump has made his priorities on energy production clear. The U.S. will rely on oil, gas, coal, and nuclear to meet its growing energy needs, the president said last weekend, bashing wind and solar power. “I don’t want windmills destroying our place,” Trump told Fox News in an interview that aired June 29. “I don’t want these solar things where they go for miles and they cover up a half a mountain that are ugly as hell.”

#6 Donald Trump Threatens to Arrest NYC Mayoral Democratic Nominee Zohran Mamdani - Bart Jansen and Eduardo Cuevas for USA TODAY, Expose First, Janet, Serge Dave Harrington, BrooK/Benjamin Ryan, Richard Eggleston, and The Bork Report on X

President Donald Trump has escalated his attacks on New York City’s Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, and now Mamdani and New York Democrats are responding. Trump threatened to arrest Mamdani if as mayor he follows through on pledges not to assist federal officials enforcing immigration laws. “Well then, we’ll have to arrest him,” Trump told reporters on July 1 while visiting a detention center in Florida. Trump said that he would “be watching over him very carefully on behalf of the nation.” Trump also said, "A lot of people are saying he's here illegally," which is false. Mamdani is a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Uganda. He immigrated to the United States with his parents, film director Mira Nair, and Columbia University professor Mahmood Mamdani at the age of seven...

Senator Lummis said: “In order to maintain our competitive edge, we must change our tax code to embrace our digital economy, not burden digital asset users. This groundbreaking legislation is fully paid-for, cuts through the bureaucratic red tape, and establishes common-sense rules that reflect how digital technologies function in the real world.”

#4 Supreme Court Will Take Up a New Case About Which School Sports Teams Transgender Students Can Join - Mark Sherman for AP News, Breitbart News, WNCT, BriefNews, Fare, and Tim Ricklefs on X

The Supreme Court agreed Thursday to hear a case over state restrictions on which school sports teams transgender students can join. Just two weeks after upholding a ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth, the justices said they will review lower court rulings in favor of transgender athletes in Idaho and West Virginia. The case will be argued in the fall. The nationwide battle over the participation of transgender girls on girls sports teams has played out at both the state and federal levels as Republicans have leveraged the issue as a fight for athletic fairness for women and girls. More than two dozen states have enacted laws barring transgender women and girls from participating in certain sports competitions. Some policies have been blocked in court...

#3 Legacy Media and the Death of Fake News - Tracy Beanz and Chelle Wards for The HighWire, Real Issues, Concerned Citizen, Conservative and Libertarian (ACLN), and Justin Eckert on X
In June 1941, the FCC allowed advertising on television. One month later, on July 1, the very first paid television advertisement aired on TV. The ad was for Bulova watches and appeared on New York station WNBT (subsequently WNBC) before a baseball game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies. According to reports, Bulova paid between $4 and $9 for the spot. Fast forward to today, where in 2025, traditional TV advertising spending is forecasted to reach approximately $57.16 billion. And that’s just TV. Spending on digital advertising is projected to reach a whopping $346 billion this year and an astronomical $786 billion by 2026. Today, these billions support not just baseball games, as in 1941, but they entirely control the content that Americans (and most of the world) receive as news. Unquestionably, the advertising industry (and conglomerates like Big Pharma) revolve solely around profits; thus, the bulk of the news they fund is propagandized misinformation and fake news...

#2 Trump Pitches Plan Allowing Farmers to Vouch for Illegal Immigrant Workers Facing Deportation - Alec Schemmel for Fox News, Dogs R Cool, Glen Tunes/Chapter7Capital/Grok, Ryan James Girdusky/Followed by Feds/Laurence (Larry) Boorstein, Ann Coulter/Mickey Kaus/tglass, and Eric Daugherty on X

The Trump administration plans to implement a process whereby farmers in Iowa can vouch for hard-working, law-abiding migrant farmworkers who may be facing deportation, so that they can remain in the U.S. The proposed process was shared by President Donald Trump during an event at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Thursday night, kicking off a year of patriotic celebrations meant to honor the nation's 250th birthday. Trump said the new plan will take place in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and that legislation for the measure is currently being drafted, while speaking Thursday evening from Iowa...

#1 The Left Is Celebrating July 4 With Protests While the Right Sees a Patriotic Revival - Maria Lencki for Fox News, Publius, lupita, Truth Seeker, Jen (ESC), edu-#ARRR-do, and Insights Success on X

As President Donald Trump is preparing for Independence Day celebrations, some Democrats will be taking to the streets to protest on America’s birthday, as polls indicate a decreased sense of patriotism from those on the Left.  Democrats across the country are organizing protests and boycotts on the 4th of July to make their voices heard that they do not agree with the direction the country is heading. A new Fox News poll showed that only 36% of Democrats say they are proud of the United States today, compared to 85% of Republicans expressing pride in their country. Now, in what some are calling the "No Kings 2.0" protests, Democrats are banding together in several states to lay out their grievances.  The Women’s March, whose mission is to "transform everyday women into feminists," is calling on protesters to join their "Free America Weekend."
