U.S. strike on Iran's nuclear sites has fueled fears that Israel's war with Tehran could escalate into a wider regional conflict, and other countries reacted Sunday with calls for diplomacy and words of caution. President Trump had said Thursday that he would decide within two weeks whether to get involved. In the end, it took just days, and Washington inserted itself into Israel's campaign with its early local time Sunday attack. It remained unclear early on how much damage had been inflicted, but Mr. Trump lauded the "massive precision strikes on the three key nuclear assemblies in the Iranian regime, Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan," as a "spectacular military success."

As the world braces for Tehran’s retribution to the US bombings, President Donald Trump has hinted at the demise of Iran’s leadership, saying: “If the current Iranian regime is unable to make Iran great again, why wouldn’t there be a regime change?”Iran says more than 400 people, including 13 children, have been killed and at least 3,056 others wounded since Israel launched its attack on June 13. Republican Representative Thomas Massie said that President Donald Trump's decision to bomb three nuclear sites in Iran is "unconstitutional" as the president faces stark division within his own party. Newsweek reached out to the White House via email Saturday night for comment.  The strikes on Iran's nuclear program mark the first direct U.S. military involvement in the escalating Israel-Iran conflict that began nine days ago, and the first time in history the U.S. struck Iran directly. "A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow," Trump wrote in his initial announcement on Truth Social. "There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

#6 Strait of Hormuz: What Happens if Iran Shuts Global Oil Corridor? - Gavin Butler for BBC, Big Red Mug, iKargos, Maj0rT0m/I Smoked WW3, MythTrap Archives, Nigerian Tribune, and Saggezza Eterna on X

There is considerable speculation that Iran might retaliate for the US's strikes on its nuclear facilities by closing the world's busiest oil shipping channel, the Strait of Hormuz. About 20% of global oil and gas flows through this narrow shipping lane in the Gulf. Blocking it would have profound consequences for the global economy, disrupting international trade and ratcheting up oil prices. It could also inflate the cost of goods and services worldwide, and hit some of the world's biggest economies, including China, India, and Japan, which are among the top importers of crude oil passing through the strait...

Washington — The U.S. is ready to meet with Iran following the U.S. bombing of three Iranian nuclear sites, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Sunday, while warning Iran that closing the crucial Strait of Hormuz would be a "suicidal" move for the regime. Rubio, appearing on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan," urged Iran to pursue diplomacy after the U.S. carried out what the Pentagon called the largest B-2 operation in U.S. history in an effort to cripple Iran's ability to develop a nuclear weapon. Rubio said the U.S. has no current plans for further attacks on Iran unless "they mess around."

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott vetoed a bill Sunday to ban all THC consumables, allowing the booming market flush with THC-infused vapes, gummies, and other products to continue to be sold across the state. Abbott, a Republican, waited until the final moment to veto the bill in what would have been one of the most restrictive THC bans in the country and a significant blow to the state's billion-dollar industry.  The law would have made it a misdemeanor to own, manufacture or sell consumable THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, products and was the latest push by states to regulate THC after a 2018 federal law allowed states to regulate hemp, a similar plant to marijuana that can be synthetically processed to produce THC, the compound giving marijuana its psychoactive properties...
