#10 Is New Plastic Too Good to be True? - TracyBeanz and Michelle Edwards for The HighWire, UncoverDC, nammastock, Terri Nakamura, and Financian on X
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Unfortunately, that adage is generally held in today’s corrupt, greed-driven society. It makes one wonder if such is the case with a recent notification by researchers in Japan titled, “Bye-bye microplastics: new plastic is recyclable and fully ocean-degradable.” With contamination from microplastics (MPs) wreaking havoc on humans—and all forms of life—and reaching the furthest corners of the globe and the deepest points of our vast oceans, a solution to microplastics would be transformative. Undoubtedly, short of figuring out how to eliminate plastic use altogether, a plastic that can metabolize in oceans and overall generate zero microplastics sounds incredible...

President Donald Trump’s administration on Tuesday released what it said were all of the government's classified files on the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy, making tens of thousands of pages of unredacted records available to the public for the first time. The release of the files comes after Trump signed a day one executive order in January aimed at fully releasing government documents related to the assassinations of Kennedy, his brother and presidential candidate Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, D-N.Y., and civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. The contents of the documents, and whether any previously unreleased information is in them, wasn't immediately clear. Historians quickly said they would need time to assess the flood of files to understand if they were significantly different from previous releases.

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes in Washington, D.C., ruled that Trump’s order to exclude transgender troops likely violates their constitutional rights. She delayed her order by three days to give the administration time to appeal. The judge issued a preliminary injunction requested by attorneys for six transgender people who are active-duty service members and two others seeking to join the military...
#4 Lawsuit Over Deportation Flights Argues Trump’s Use of War Authority Could Be Limitless - Jacob Rosen for CBS News, News18, Reuters, Joe Pagliery, and Alf Beauman on X
Plaintiffs suing the Trump administration over use of a war authority to deport alleged gang members warned that failing to block the president from its use would mean anyone could be treated as an enemy alien. The lawyers for Venezuelan migrants suing the government said Tuesday in an appellate court filing: "The implications of the government's position are staggering. If the President can designate any group as enemy aliens under the Act, and that designation is unreviewable, then there is no limit on who can be sent to a Salvadoran prison, or any limit on how long they will remain there."

Chuang of the US District Court in Maryland. Chuang said that DOGE cannot terminate any more contracts or grants of USAID, nor can it fire or put on leave any more employees. He also cut off DOGE staffers from sharing sensitive personal data kept by the agency, in a major win for groups broadly challenging Musk’s role in the federal government...
