One in three bites of food consumed by every person in the country depends on pollinators—bees—to come to fruition. Yet, commercial beekeepers have reported that, on average, they lost 62 percent of their bee colonies from June 2024 to February 2025. That means 1.1 million colonies were lost from late summer through winter, accounting for 41 percent of the total bee colonies in the United States. Experts have no idea what is causing the loss of these fantastic creatures—who navigate using the Earth’s magnetic field and are sensitive to electromagnetic fields (EMFs)—and warn a catastrophic loss could happen again. He led the force in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. Chief J. Thomas Manger will retire from the U.S. Capitol Police on May 2, his office announced Tuesday. Manger took over the Hill’s police force in 2021 in the wake of the Jan. 6 attack that saw the Capitol breached by rioting supporters of President Donald Trump, who falsely claimed to have won the 2020 election. After a national search, the Capitol Police Board picked Manger in July of that year to head the struggling agency after leading police departments in the Washington suburbs. Manger inherited a short-staffed force that was demoralized after the attacks and burnt out from mandatory overtime...

The White House is withdrawing former Florida Rep. Dave Weldon's nomination to be the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a White House official confirmed Thursday. An administration official who was asked about why Weldon's nomination was withdrawn responded, "It was clear he did not have the votes in the Senate."  Weldon, a vaccine critic, was set to appear before the Senate's health committee on Thursday for his confirmation hearing, and news of the withdrawal of his nomination came less than an hour before the hearing was to begin. Axios first reported news of Weldon's nomination being pulled. The committee was expected to question him about his long record of criticizing vaccines and the agency he was nominated to lead. Weldon is a physician and a former Republican member of Congress...

DOGE will assist USPS with addressing “big problems” at the $78 billion-a-year agency, which has sometimes struggled in recent years to stay afloat. The agreement also includes the General Services Administration in an effort to help the Postal Service identify and achieve “further efficiencies.” USPS listed such issues as mismanagement of the agency’s retirement assets and Workers’ Compensation Program, as well as an array of regulatory requirements that the letter described as “restricting normal business practice.”
