Two active-duty U.S. Army soldiers and one former soldier were arrested in Oregon on Thursday for their alleged roles in gathering and sending sensitive information to individuals in China, the Department of Justice said. The accused are Jian Zhao and Li Tian, who were stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and former soldier Ruoyo Duan. All three are charged with conspiring to commit bribery and theft of government property. Zhao is facing additional charges of conspiring to obtain and transmit national defense information to an individual not authorized to receive it...

#9 Court: NO Vaccine Exemption For Amish Children; Amish FINED $118,000 - Erik Wesner for Amish America, Sudden and Unexpected, Died Suddenly, Sadie, and Retired Publius on X

A federal appeals court has upheld a decision requiring Amish schoolchildren to be vaccinated in New York. These are not Amish children who attend public schools; they are Amish children attending Amish-owned and operated schools. Religious objections do not work here, according to the Second Circuit court ruling. From Courthouse News:  A New York State law requiring Amish students to receive vaccinations does not violate those students’ constitutional rights, a Second Circuit panel ruled Monday. The case, which the panel heard this past November, had been brought by three Amish community schools that were fined in 2019 for failing to comply with state-mandated school vaccinations.

#8 Daylight Savings 2025: The US States Where Clocks Don't Change - James Bickerton for Newsweek, Elon Musk/n, Stop Socialist Tyranny/BBroe, Max Sanchez Sosa, and MJ Truth Ultra on X

Daylight saving time (DST) is due to go into effect across most, but not all, of the United States and its territories on Sunday at 2 a.m. local time. However, two American states and five territories are exempt, either in part or in full. The biannual clock switch for most Americans has become increasingly debated in recent years. A number of prominent figures, including President Donald Trump in December, have called for it to be abolished. In 2022, the Senate unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act, which proposed making DST permanent year-round but did not pass the House of Representatives. The legislation was reintroduced the following year but again failed to pass into law...

#7 Replacing Butter for Some Plant Oils Could Significantly Lower Risk of Mortality, New Study Finds - Julianna Bragg for CNN, Vigilant News, Evermore Wellness, Steve Milloy, Shawn Ryan (community notes), and Cary Kelly/New York Post on X

Swapping your daily butter intake for certain plant-based oils may help reduce your risk of death, a new study finds. These findings challenge the growing social media trend that attacks seed oils in favor of butter, ghee and animal fats. “Seed oils are one of the most unhealthy ingredients we have in foods,” said US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in an Instagram video in 2024, who continues to promote the slogan “Making Frying Oil Tallow Again.”

#6 Trump Orders Massive Forest Clearings to Curb US Reliance on Foreign Timber - Michelle Del Rey for Independent, Aaron Rupar/F.J., Sky News, Svein Tvietdal, and lana/Cheryl Smolecki on X

President Donald Trump signed an executive order earlier this month ordering that large parcels of forest be chopped down to limit U.S. reliance on foreign timber days before he implemented tariffs on the country’s largest trading partners. In the order titled “Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production” signed on March 1, Trump claimed the country has enough timber resources to meet domestic demand, but federal policies have barred their full utilization and made the U.S. dependent on foreign producers...

#5 Is Zuckerberg Playing the Long Game? - Tracy Beanz and Michelle Edwards for The HighWire, UncoverDC, 9mmSMG, Insurrection Barbie, and Jeff Carlson/TimCast News on X
Fact-checking and offering money for viral content have each been contentious practices of Facebook (Meta) for years. Guided by what is most often anything but the truth, Meta’s fact-checking practices were in lockstep with the deep state’s freedom-stealing propaganda following Donald Trump’s presidential win in 2016. However, with Trump back in office for a second term as President of the United States, Mark Zuckerberg has shifted course, recently announcing he will phase out Meta’s fact-checking routine in the U.S. No more fact-checkers is excellent news, but it appears misinformation on the platform will indeed persist. Previously, content creators were forbidden from monetizing posts that fact-checkers ruled false. With fact-checkers gone, this policy will also be gone, which could intensify the frequency of misinformation that is indeed genuinely false...

#4 Federal Judge Reinstates Labor Board Member Fired by President Donald Trump -  Michael Kunzelman for AP News, Derrick Evans, Margot Cleveland, Gerald Roe/George, and Kyle Cheney on X

A federal judge ruled Thursday that President Donald Trump acted illegally when he fired a member of an independent labor agency, and the judge ordered that she be allowed to remain on the job. U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell in Washington, D.C., found Trump did not have the authority to remove Gwynne Wilcox from the National Labor Relations Board. “An American president is not a king — not even an ‘elected’ one — and his power to remove federal officers and honest civil servants like plaintiff is not absolute,” Howell wrote.

#3 Hundreds of USAID Contractors Face Chopping Block as Federal Judge Oks Cuts - Ryan Knappenberger for Courthouse News Service, Real Robert, AJ Huber, emptywheel, Real Ben Garrison Cartoons, and Steve Gruber on X

A federal judge cleared the way for the Trump administration to cut loose nearly 800 contractors working with the U.S. Agency for International Development on Thursday. U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols previously ruled against a USAID union seeking emergency relief to prevent the imminent termination of over 2,000 employees at the humanitarian aid agency. The Donald Trump appointee issued the order from the bench Thursday and said the contractors had not shown their terminations amounted to the irreparable harm necessary to grant the emergency relief...

#2 FEMA CFO Fired Over Payments to New York City for Migrants Says She Had DOGE Sign-off - CBS News, Breanna Morello, Michael Kaplan, Diligent Denizen, and David Plexiglass on X

A former government official who says she was falsely accused of illegally sending funds to New York City to book luxury hotels for undocumented migrants — and then publicly ridiculed and fired — said Thursday that just days earlier she had been directed by a member of the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE, to make the payments.  Mary Comans, who was the chief financial officer at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, sued the agency and the Department of Homeland Security, or DHS, on Tuesday...

#1 Dem Fundraising Behemoth Reportedly On The Brink Of Implosion As Top Staff Rush For The Exit - Audrey Streb for MSN, Mario Nawfal/Elon Musk/ I Love America News, Lara Logan/Charlie Kirk, Jack Reacher, and Chris LaCivita on X

Major Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue is facing serious turmoil, with at least seven senior officials resigning last month and one lawyer implying that he “faced internal retaliation,” according to the New York Times. The nonprofit, which has funneled hundreds of millions of dollars to all levels of Democratic campaigns over the years, is now facing internal havoc. Given ActBlue’s major influence in processing election donations, the group’s current instability could also greatly affect the Democrat party...
