Once Trump announced his third run for the presidency, I was committed to never again vote for Donald Trump.
I had my reasons: many of which included his shift to the left on every subject, all things COVID, making horrible endorsements/staffing decisions, and more. I was determined to vote for either DeSantis (who has been the best elected executive level politician by far of my lifetime) or RFK Jr. who wants a healthier America (jabs/drugs, better soil, better environment, etc.).
I lost “friends” over my stance that I wouldn’t vote for someone I distrusted. Neighbors wouldn't talk with me. But I was doing what I thought was appropriate. When I posted about it in comments on social media, I was told my vote wasn’t needed and called a traitor. I was given vile rhetoric in response to stating my opinion showing that many in the MAGA circle were emotionally driven exactly like the left has been.
When the only two people I was willing to vote for ended up endorsing Trump, I felt politically homeless. I felt this election had no good choices and, in some manner, I still feel this way today.
So why did I come back to Trump?
It was a blend of three things: prayer, people like Steve Deace taking a tough, but logical approach, and people like Tracy Beanz coming from an angle of love and joy. These three things all softened my heart.
Steve Deace talked about how even though Trump is to the left and shifted the entire party to the left, the choice is comparable to a difference between 1990s NYC vs 2024 San Francisco/ Minneapolis/ London. He also put forth the idea that while Trump is not perfect, Harris would destroy the nation and that God used imperfect people throughout the Bible.
Tracy continued to press on, even after reading my comment on a Frank & Beanz show (The Dark to Light Podcast), that I wouldn’t vote Trump, with love, joy, and a welcoming tone. She never put me down by name nor by ideology. Neither did Frank.
And, of course, my wife prayed for me like crazy that I would come around. I also prayed that I would be given the wisdom on how to cast my vote.
Every decision in life involves determining your best option considering the choices available.
Factor in the MAHA movement with RFK Jr teaming up with Trump provides the greatest chance to remove poisons from our diet, improve soils, and decouple corporate elites from federal agencies, there was something to excite me in this election.
So, while I don’t believe Trump is the magic solution for this nation, as only God will save us, we were given an opportunity for a “stay of execution.”
Let’s get to work and may God bless the United States of America.
