#10 Who Were the 7 High-Ranking Hezbollah Officials Killed Over the Past Week? - Kareem Chehayeb and Jack Jeffery for AP News, The Independent, Sandeep Neel, and Steve Adams on X

just over a week, intensified Israeli strikes in Lebanon killed seven high-ranking commanders and officials from the powerful Hezbollah militant group, including the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah. The move left Lebanon and much of the Mideast in shock as Israeli officials celebrated major military and intelligence breakthroughs. Hezbollah had opened a front to support its ally Hamas in the Gaza Strip a day after the Palestinian group’s surprise attack into southern Israel. The recent strikes in Lebanon and the assassination of Nasrallah are a significant escalation in the war in the Middle East, this time between Israel and Hezbollah...

#9 DOJ Sues Alabama, State’s Top Election Official for Allegedly Purging Noncitizen Voters Too Close to Election - Sarah Rumpf-Whitten for Fox News, New York Post, Greg Price, and John Solomon on X

The Department of Justice sued the State of Alabama and its top election official, alleging that they had removed voters who had previously been issued noncitizen identification numbers from its election rolls too close to election day. Noncitizen identification numbers are a tax-processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to ensure that people—including undocumented immigrants—pay taxes. Along with paying taxes, noncitizen identification numbers can provide legal migrants with securing a driver's license and providing proof of residency...

#8 John Kerry: If Democrats ‘Win,’ We Can ‘Change’ First Amendment to Fight ‘Disinformation’ - The Daily Wire, Mike Davis, and Ian Miles Cheong on X

Democrat John Kerry, who served as President Joe Biden’s U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, said last week that the First Amendment was in the way of Democrats’ desire to fight “disinformation.” Kerry made the extreme remarks during a discussion with the World Economic Forum on Green Energy when asked by an audience member what could be done to fight online disinformation. “You know there’s a lot of discussion now about how you curb those entities in order to guarantee that you’re going to have some accountability on facts, etc.,” he said. “But look, if people only go to one source, and the source they go to is sick, and, you know, has an agenda, and they’re putting out disinformation, our First Amendment stands as a major block to be able to just, you know, hammer it out of existence.”

#7 Lawmakers Race to Avoid Farm Bill Disaster - Saul Elbein and Mike Lillis for The Hill, Missouri Independent, Farm Progress Daily, and US Farm Report on X

The stopgap farm bill is set to expire next week — and the congressional coalition that the massive legislation has relied on for half a century is on the verge of breaking down. Now congressional negotiators are desperately racing against long odds to minimize the damage before benefits run out at the end of the year.  The bill’s expiration marks the second straight year of Congress’s failure to pass the typically five-year piece of legislation, which for almost a century has underpinned the U.S.’s agricultural sector and food aid programs. “Our farmers need [a deal],” House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.), one of the signatories, told The Hill this week. ...

There were no negotiations planned for either Sunday or before the midnight deadline on Tuesday between the International Longshoremen’s Association and the U.S. Maritime Alliance, which represents employers of the East Coast and Gulf Coast longshore industry, according to Reuters. “United States Maritime Alliance … refuses to address a half-century of wage subjugation,” the union said in a statement...

#5 Massive Fire Engulfs Atlanta-Area Chemical Plant - Tyler Durden Zero Hedge, Phil Holoway, and John Hoo on X
A massive fire broke out at a chemical plant in Conyers, Georgia, prompting local area evacuations and road closures. Footage of the blaze shared on X might remind some of the train derailment fire in East Palestine, Ohio, early last year. The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office said the fire occurred at BioLab, a chemical plant that makes specialty pool and spa care products. They told residents near the plant to stay indoors and keep windows closed to minimize exposure to harmful chemicals, adding, "Safety measures are in place to protect the public."
