As the media outlet adapts to a shifting industry landscape, Axios is enacting layoffs, impacting around 50 staffers, CEO Jim VandeHei announced in an internal memo on Tuesday. In the Axios signature “Smart Brevity” writing model, VandeHei informed the workforce that the outlet would be eliminating 50 positions to “get ahead of tectonic shifts in the media, technology, and reader needs/habits.” “This is a painful but necessary move to tighten our strategic focus and shift investment to our core growth areas,” VandeHei wrote. “We’re making some difficult changes to adapt fast to a rapidly changing media landscape.”

A fugitive wanted for a deadly Ohio shooting 20 years ago was captured Thursday after authorities discovered him working as a police officer in Mexico, U.S. Marshals said. Antonio Riano, known as “El Diablo” or “The Devil,” was listed as a “Most Wanted” fugitive by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office following a shooting in December 2004 in Cincinnati, Ohio, according to a U.S. Marshals’ press release. The shooting reportedly involved the death of 25-year-old Benjamin Becerra. Riano allegedly fled the U.S. after the incident to “avoid prosecution.”

It's a beautiful sight and definitely one for the bucket list. The ocean can glow and glitter like the stars in the sky thanks to a natural chemical process known as bioluminescence, which allows living things to produce light in their body. Marine creatures like some fish, squid, tiny crustaceans and algae produce bioluminescence to either confuse predators, attract prey or even lure potential mates. We humans can witness this natural phenomenon when there is lots of bioluminescence in the water, usually from an algae bloom of plankton. The bioluminescent sea will glow when it’s disturbed by a wave breaking or a splash in the water at night...
