The News of Today is the History of Tomorrow —
Commentary by Larry Schweikart

IN POLITICAL NEWS

1) The evil Jack Smith has backed down on a subpoena seeking records from President Trump for Save America PAC records.

2) Morning Consult poll has President Trump up a mere 49% over Ron DeSantis, at 67% overall, while Stelzer says most of Trump’s supporters are locked in.

3) Arizona’s Attorney General Kris Mayes has initiated prosecution of the Cochise County Supervisor who questioned voting machines, delayed certification, and attempted (God forbid!) a hand count of ballots.

4) Under pressure from FOIA, the National Archives have located 82,000 pages of Rutabaga’s pseudonym emails.

5) Pretty funny. A progressive historian tried to claim that without gubment, there would have been no Minutemen. A judge promptly reminded him that the Minutemen were precisely there because of a gubment trying to disarm them and then found factual errors in the historian’s work.

6) Yesterday, I had this story about an ice hockey player, Adam Johnson, who died in a “freak accident.” Well, we now have video. This was no accident. This was murder. The player is known as one of the dirtiest players in the league.

7) Why was Maricopa County elections data made available to three different domains on October 3, 2022? One was the Chilean gubment.

8) Shocked: it seems with all the leftist Hamas-backing, there is a surge of antisemitism on campuses. Cornell is on alert for “Horrendous, antisemitic” messages.

-What did you guys expect?

9) Soros is backing the Hamas protests.

10) A record number of illegal criminals from India are crossing the U.S. border, with 42,000 intercepted. Guess that explains all the Silicon Valley layoffs of ‘Mericans.

11) COMMENT/REVIEW: One of the most common questions I receive—besides, “Don’t liberals know what they are doing?” (To which the answer is, “They know exactly what they are doing, but think it won’t hurt them”) is: “Why are Jews liberal?” Several writers, including Norman Podhoretz and Dennis Prager, have unsuccessfully tried to answer this. Now, three new articles do a much better job of explaining why Jews “may” abandon their liberalism in the wake of the Hamas murders. First is Sally Zelikovsky. Next is Konstantin Kisin. Finally, Bari Weiss and Oliver Wiseman.

12) A Virginia DemoKKKrat pushed an “after-school Satan club” and has a fixation on “the demonic.”

-If I’m in charge, “Well . . . bye.”

13) A federal judge has put a restraining order on Rutabaga’s attempt to interfere with the concertina wire on the border.

-Why is this even needed? Why does Rutabaga hate America so much? Seriously?

14) Here we go again. A new CRISPR enzyme therapy could kill HIV.

15) Speaking of illegal criminals, 100 Syrians and 50 Iranians have crossed the border that we know of. In October.

IN ECONOMIC NEWS

16) The world’s biggest “carbon capture” plant was quietly sold off for a fraction of its build cost.

17) New Kabul is in danger of losing its place as the financial capital of the U.S. due to crime and illegal criminals.

18) The actual cost of charging an EV is a whopping $17 a gallon. Automakers are losing $36,000 on each EV sold.

19) The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a challenge to Trump’s steel import tariffs.

20) Death of the second home? Sales of U.S. vacation properties have fallen by 75% as soaring mortgages deter buyers.

21) The UAW strike ended with higher wages and better benefits for employees. Now, if the automakers are gonna make a profit, they will have to ditch the EVs.

22) Right on cue, GM is stalling EV production because of falling demand.

23) Shop-Rite Supermarkets announced massive layoffs in New York State.

IN INTERNATIONAL NEWS

24) Israeli tanks have entered Gaza City.

25) This is akin to the appeasers saying Hitler didn’t represent the Nazis. Israel’s president says “The Hamas attack does not represent Islam.”

-Really? Why are all the Muslims demonstrating their glee in the bloodlust?

IN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

26) The “South Park” episode “Beyond the Panderverse” has set off Kathleen Kennedy claiming the problem is with “our culture,” not her disgusting destruction of a very good franchise. Kennedy doubled down on diversity and overall poop.

-To quote the Evil Emperor, “Gooooooood.” Disney will crash and burn further.

27) Typical UK Daily Mail article header: “Taylor Swift jets to Kansas City to help Lover Travis Kelce lick his wounds after Denver loss.”

-Don’t know that I’d want to have Taylor Swift and lick in the same header.

28) Well, well. Nelson Peltz, the dissident Disney stockholder, has teamed up with fired Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter, who gave him voting rights over his stock, to hold a $2.5 billion stake in the Mouse. Disney is also dropping a “massive chunk” in the lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is now pleading with Disney to drop its case.

29) Latest in critics-hate-it-but-audiences-love-it, “Five Nights at Freddy’s is a hit.

-We used to do five nights at Freddy’s. It was a pretty seedy bar.

30) Frank Howard, the great Washington Senators slugger, dead at age 87.

AND FINALLY...

31) Thank God! Researchers found that the secret to healthy, long life is not 10,000 steps, but 8,000.

-Yesterday I only got 9,999 and thought I cut a year off my life!
