The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates has announced the topics for the first debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden. The debate is just one week away and is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

According to The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates, Chris Wallace of Fox News, who will moderate the first debate, chose each of the six debate topics: The Trump and Biden Records, The Supreme Court, COVID-19, The Economy, Race and Violence in our Cities, and The Integrity of Our Elections.
Topics for each debate are to be announced at least a week in advance in order to "encourage deep discussion of the leading issues facing the country," the debate commission stated.
According to The Commission on Presidential Debates website, "(CPD) was established in 1987 to ensure, for the benefit of the American electorate, that general election debates between or among the leading candidates for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States are a permanent part of the electoral process. CPD’s primary purpose is to sponsor and produce the quadrennial general election debates and to undertake research and educational activities relating to the debates. The organization, which is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) corporation, sponsored all of the presidential debates in 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016."
Breitbart noted that "The list excludes foreign policy, abortion, climate change, immigration, health care, education, and other issues voters consider important, though it is possible they could be included under other rubrics, or brought up by the candidates."
Biden and Trump will debate twice more on October 15 in Nashville, Tennessee, and October 22 in Miami, Florida. Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris of California and Vice President Mike Pence will debate once – in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 7.
The debates will run for 90 minutes without commercial interruption and will start at 9:00 pm ET.
