As anticipation for Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s FISA Abuse report built due to its release being delayed several times over the past year and a half, there was much argument between the DNC Media Complex and the New News Media. No side was able to agree on what the report would end up proving.
But before Horowitz was tasked with his investigation, there were already two very different narratives taking shape. These narratives were perfectly summed up, split along party lines, and memorialized in dueling memos.
On February 2, 2018, Devin Nunes released a report called “Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Abuses at the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.” This is commonly referred to as “The Nunes Memo”.
Absolutely incensed that Nunes had made this information regarding the Obama FBI’s abuse of the FISA system public, Adam Schiff and Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee quickly threw together a memo of their own to counter the Nunes Memo. The Democratic counter-memo was entitled “Correcting the Record — The Russia Investigation”. This memo is now commonly referred to as “The Schiff Memo”.
As Horowitz’s released report has now demonstrated, far from correcting the record, the Schiff Memo distorted the actual facts.
And more than a few media outlets have noticed Horowitz’s report fully supports what Nunes was claiming in his memo in February of 2018. Since the memo Schiff released disputed literally every claim of the Nunes memo, it is Schiff and his counter memo that are demonstrably false.
It is now very clear that Nunes and Schiff were looking at the same classified information, with Nunes telling the truth about what those documents contained, while Adam Schiff was boldly lying about it.
As the Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway so aptly stated in her excellent column about this back on December 10th:
The new inspector general report on FISA abuse settles the debate between Republicans and Democrats on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Both groups put out memos about the Department of Justice’s efforts to secure a warrant to wiretap Carter Page.
At the time of their release, the media praised Democrat Adam Schiff and his memo and vilified Republican Devin Nunes and his memo. Nearly two years later, the inspector general’s report vindicates the Nunes memo while showing that the Schiff memo was riddled with lies and false statements.
The Vindication of Devin Nunes
Few politicians in American history have been subjected to what Devin Nunes went through over the past three years. From the moment he first exposed the illegal unmasking of electronic communications against members of the Trump transition team in a surprise press conference in March of 2017, Devin Nunes has been a target.
He was forced to step down from his chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee while he was investigated and attacked. They alleged he was lying about the unmasking of Trump associates and FISA abuse by the FBI. Now everyone knows he was not lying. He was being attacked this entire time for telling the truth about things the Democrats were determined to keep secret.
It must feel pretty good to be Devin Nunes these days. The Mueller Special Counsel closed down & caught all the Democrats flat footed, and now Horowitz has clearly shown that Nunes was telling the truth about the crimes committed by the FBI against Carter Page.
Adam Schiff, on the other hand…
Schiff’s Ever-Growing History of Lies & Distortions
While the Mueller Special Counsel’s Office was still conducting its investigation, Schiff had spent numerous television interviews and press conferences confidently pontificating about all the evidence he’d seen (which the Special Counsel now also supposedly had), evidence Schiff claimed was ‘more than circumstantial’. When the Mueller Report was released, it utterly exposed Schiff’s scam.
Now, just a few months later, Schiff is exposed yet again, having sold the American people lies for more than two years. Most recently, we learned he had also been lying about the FBI’s serious abuses of the FISA surveillance system.
Schiff’s enthusiasm for misleading and manipulating the public about all the evidence for Trump/Russia collusion that he’d claimed to have seen, and about the FISA warrant abuse raise serious questions about him.
Schiff could sell all of the fabrications to the public without getting caught, only so long as Mueller kept going and Horowitz kept investigating. Did he really think they would never end? What was his ‘Plan B’ once he was exposed?
In addition to his years of lies about Trump/Russia collusion evidence and the FBI’s abuse of FISA, Schiff continues to insist he still doesn’t know the identity of the so called “Ukrainian phone call” whistle blower. His staff does, having met the person, but he doesn’t, you see. He didn’t ask and his staff never told him.
For their own reasons, Schiff, along with many Democrats in both the House and Senate, have embarked on a strategy of deliberately lying to the public about what the actual evidence reflects in a number of issues of national importance– the Trump/Russia collusion scandal, FISA abuse, and now this latest Ukrainian impeachment hoax, among others.
And the day of reckoning for all of these lies is coming.
Voters must remember in November 2020 who was telling them the truth about these most serious matters and who was resolutely committed to deceiving them.
If you like being lied to, Adam Schiff and his Democratic Party will be happy to lie to you, and you should definitely vote for them.
If you value truth, then your vote must go to Devin Nunes and the Republicans.
